    Some BJ action! (Not porn)

We built this drop 2 weeks ago during some very rainy times. Saturday it was finally dry enough to hit. Well this morning I brought the camera along. Things were well until Naked decided to hit it!

    1. Mooseknuck hits it first
    2. El C a little nose heavy. (Take one)
    3. El C take two. Much better
    4. Naked goes nose heavy, washes out, and goes down hard. Video to come soon!

A few more shots from last week of the hip....You'll see from the video we shot today that most of us are hitting it like a straight forward stepdown. I've been trying to whip it a little, but I'm still too scared to really let it rip.

Faster than you'd think. Probably 10mph or so. Naked and i hit it too fast on Saturday, making for a rough landing. I hit it twice this mornign to try to get the speed dialed.

Nice work! Any chance you could hit it backwards as a step up?

Looks killer El C. Nice looking tranny there. I love features where you come in blind and have to carry a bit of speed off of them. As they say in my parts.....Commit or Eat Sh!t.

No. There's nothing close by to help you generate the speed you'd need to do a step up.

Maybe if you got a tow from a motorcycle.

Nice work you guys.... that looks much bigger and scarier from below. As you approach the lip, the top of the tranny appears to be perfectly in line with your fall angle and all of about 2 feet away........ as you can see though, the gap and the drop are considerably bigger than that.

it would be sick to put a landing on the buttcracker rock!!! More speed and more committment. huge landing, it would have to be 2x the one there.

Base Jump. We have a drop called the High Dive, and we were going to call this one the sky dive. The BJ just has a certain ring to it.

No worries Mike. Team Sanchez will take good care of you. They are great hosts. All the Team's big moves have nice alternate lines for the timid (like me). You'll find plenty to like on Barrels and Zen, if that's where they are taking you, even if you don't hit the monster moves. After watching your vids I can't imagine you'd have much trouble with any of that stuff though.

    Saweeet! Nice feature, guys.

Just out of curiosity, now that you have hit it a bunch does it need the little kicker up top? At the speed you are going it appears the lip is just pushing you past the landing. It looks like you have the drop dialed enough that you could yank on the roll-over and send it without the kicker. But it might just be the angle of the footy.

    Carry on gentlemen, good work.

I appreciate underestimates instead of the opposite. But IMO it's closer to 10' (minimum) to where all y'alls back wheels were touching down...

Pics and videos never do justice - make things look smaller than they are. I'm sure there is some major pucker factor going on when just looking at the landing from the top of the rock! Good stuff.

When you wake up next to him tomorrow morning, tell him to drop me a line. Although, after watching Mikesee hit a bunch of moves on his 29'er, it has opened my eyes to the abilities of the big wheels. Tell him to keep with the DW Sultan for all his rock moves.

You know, in California, we measure waves on the front, so a double over head wave is approx, 12' tall. In Hawaii, they measure waves from the back, so a 12' waves is called 6' over there.

Perhaps we've got this kind of thing going on between CO and UT?

You've seen the light for a while, you just keep running from it...that's ok, sometimes it's painful.

I used the wave example once in the DH forum and I think I heard crickets.

Most riders = top of takeoff to top of tranny.

DH/FR forum = top of takeoff to where you land. Because if you totally sail down the tranny, it makes it seem so much SiCKer than it actually is!

Pinkbike = top of takeoff to where you land (multiply that by 2)

It would help if you could actually use a tape measure out surfing.
We measure every launch in our playgrounds, and it's good to know for future planning.

Oh yeah. That was the original plan. When we were out building it, the dirt was so sloppy, that we decided to try a dirt lip first, just to see how it would hold up. The dirt has so much clay in it here, that the dirt lip is holding up great. It'll be interesting to see what happens next time it rains.

Someone asked it the lip is really necessary. Probably not, but it gives your bike a little flatter trajectory, and helps you get to the tranny a little easier without having to boost so hard.

The similarities in terrain and riding style are there, all he needs now is a Highline and he's set.
