    At least list out the details on the parts you ordered so we know what's coming!

    3x9?!?!?!? Seriously, looks like my kind of build. Nothing too fancy, but faster than shite wheels!

    I was actually just sitting here considering going from 2x10 to 1x11 on my Czar, which I never thought I'd bother with.

    However, I realize that I REALLY tend to avoid the granny ring, considering (stupidly) it's use to be some kind of failure.

    This approach has actually served me pretty well over the years, but my knees aren't getting any younger, so I may have to let the mashing approach go, especially in 100 mile events.

    You're in for some big fun once you finish the interminable build, and get it out on the trail!
    The drive towards achievement and success is the motive power of civilization.

    Too funny. My czar has a 2x10 and I have to keep fighting thoughts of upgrading to 1x11. What I don't like about 2x10 is that if you run it with big spread to maximize your gearing range, then it means the majority of your riding falls in the middle spanning both rings and requires frequent shifting or cross chaining. But if you run a smaller big ring so you can spend the majority of your time there, then why not just go 1x11 and have that big ring more centered on the cassette?

    I am going to try out a relatively close spaced front setup (maybe 26-36). The up-side is that I'll have great shifting and reduced cross chaining. The downside is that I will have essentially achieved the disadvantages of both 2x10 and 1x11 (limited range AND a front derailluer). Genius!

    I've pretty much exhausted my build budget at this point, and figured I'd put the majority of my $$ into the frame, fork, and wheels...I'm sure I'll move on from the 3x9 eventually, and may even go 1x11 down the road when King finally comes up with a driver.

    It's actually somewhat of an act of mercy that I'll be waiting on parts for a while, the trails around here have been absolutely F'd for the past month with all of the freeze/thaw, and snow that's been slow melting.

    Isn't 3x9 really just 2x10 and 1x11 kinda added together. (-;

    Got word from Nox today that my wheels should be shipping by the end of next week...STOKED!!

    I'm going to run around the block with a wheel in each hand and the Praxis between my teeth.

    I'm not even close to kidding.

    I expected the sentence to end with "between my legs".

    Well...called Nox today and got the "sorry, but you're at the top of the list for the next batch of rims" story again. Not that it matters since I still don't have the frame or fork, but I'd much rather hear "man, it's gonna be a good 6 weeks" up front, rather than getting the perpetual "next week" treatment.

    In other news: talked to LJ today and it sounds like the next batch of XL Czars should be hitting the Turner hive around the first week in April...shipping a week or two after that depending on how quickly they can build the frames and full builds.

    Wheelz came in today!! Parts trickling in like this is EXCRUCIATING. Looks like the fork and stuff will be in tomorrow, now just waiting on the XL frame. I'll have to bother LJ again tomorrow for an update.
