    RFX version numbers--what's what?

Someone enlighten me. Here's what I got in my befuddled mind.

v1 RFX is obviously the first one that came out what, 2001 or 2002?
v2 RFX is AKA the Six Pack and came with the Horst link (2004 or 05?)
v3 RFX is the first of that frame to come with the TNT end (2006)
v4 RFX is the 2007 model that El Chiggy has?

CC where are you? Oh great and omniscient Turner historian...

Apologies if it has been discussed, the search function is currently buggin' out on me

No '04 Pack; it was introduced for '05. Can you put a note to this effect on your bathroom mirror or something as you seem prone to forgetting it?

One might think that the TNT introduction would merit us calling it a new version, but they look, ride, feel, weigh the same.

The 2007 RFX gets new rear end, new top tube, head tube, BB, linkage, shock, travel change, lower leverage, and it's lighter. Major change! Therefore it's the Version 3.

Since every version has been owned by at least one TS member.
{Principal Skinner} Hmm. Whoever did this is in very deep trouble.
    {Martin} And a sloppy speller too. The preferred spelling of 'wiener' is w - i - e - n - e - r, although 'e - i' is an acceptable ethnic variant.

    V1

Was introduced at the fall show 1997 as the 1998 RFX, with 5.1" of flat rocker controlled travel, this date line is important for the history buffs, After a couple of years of the free riders going bigger and bigger I put the available 6" rockers on from the V2 Afterburner and added a whole bunch of metal then on it marched untill late 2001 or some were around early 2002.. The summer of 2002 I dragged an old 5.1" RFX to Downieville with a 125mm single crown on the front and the parts off my XCE and the Spot was born, really only in re-naming it and cleaning up the geometry as the replacement for the XCE.

The SixPack was aviable only in '05.
I think Tscheezy has one of the very first Packs,he got his "Prototype" in Oktober or November '04?
Production models where avaible since late February or early March '05 AFAIK.
By the end of the year DT switched to the new TNT rearend and the new production batch was called RFX again.I remember the name RFSix or RF6 was also in disscusion.

    okay, got it now.
    v. 1 - '98, 5 inch rockers.
    v. 2 - '00, 6 inch rockers "A-rockers" from the afterburner.
    v. 3 - '02, 6 inch "B-rockers", thicker headtube.
    v. 4 - '05, Six Pack, butted tubing replaces straight guage, seat stay lengthens, rockers similar to the A's.
    v. 5 - '06, TNT rear pivot, anodizing.
    v. 6 - '07, why you still calling it an RFX?

    Oldest RFX

While I know that it isn't anything to brag about, I would almost bet I have the oldest RFX still being ridden. I have serial number 007 or 009. It was a 5" travel RFX that I bought in 98-99, direct from Turner. The bike is still sweet and I have only given it 2 overhauls. Maybe I am just old school, but how much difference does the '07 bike make from the '98?

    Thanks,
    Ryan.

lots. my '02 is for sale after ridin a '07. thers major diffs on both sides of the line. it all depends on what ya want the bike to do. youll never, ever, ever break a '02 rfx (the early ones are pretty close) but itll never, ever, ever ride a trail as nice as a '07.

    Kelly1,

You were right I don't have 007, and actually I don't have 009 either. I cleaned it up and I actually have 006. Pretty old.

    So I'd guess this is a V2? Year 2000?

S/N 1045, "A" rockers and gusseted top tube. I love this bike, the snow is from last year, not quite that cold here yet.

OK, V1, I was thinking 5" to 6" would change version numbers.
