Parting out my bikes: Paid Spam

I'm hoping these will go pretty fast, so if any of those prices seem way out of whack, just make me an offer.

I'll try and get some pics up of individual parts as I get them stripped down and cleaned up.

All parts are in at least Fair to Good condition with some in excellent shape.

Good luck with the sale. I can't give the Endo away. I imagine your Turner will sell faster though.

A post knollfest Chili is probably where you're going.

The used bike market seems to have taken a hit the past 6 months. Bikes are just sitting in the classifieds, begging to be bought. I saw your Endo for a pretty good deal, too bad I'd rather throw my leg over a Chili though. Before I post to classifieds, anyone interested in a 11 Spot

Yeah, that's why I decided to try parting them out instead. We'll see how it goes. It does mean that I'll be relegated to the old hard tail for the next three months while this all plays out.

It started snowing today and the old hard tail is the best choice for winter riding anyway.

I get the feeling that the used 26 market will only get weaker, the plus side being people will be able to get into the sport on better bikes for less. Now that 26 = kid's wheels this should help get more kids riding.

I wonder if a guy should wait for the first batch to get used to see if any bugs need to be worked out. I remember the bugs reported with the 2009 5 Spot.

KROB, what fork are you going to use?

Not sure yet, but it won't be the 55RC3 cause I just sold it. Either a Fox Float 36 160 or a lyric solo air RC2DH. I want to keep it light.

JBo, the 2009 frames were a total redesign for DT. New bushings, linkages, rear-ends, etc. Nothing was shared from the previous models.

The DW Turners have been getting refined since 2009. Although the Burner is a new model, it shares a lot of parts/ideas with previous DW frames. I'd say it will be safe to pull the trigger right away. I don't think there will be any bugs to work out, that all happened early on in the DW line.

I didn't know they made a 650B Fox 36. I have been thinking about a Marzocchi fork for my next build. I get tapped on this bikes stuff now. It feels like bike stuff has gone up a lot lately. It is better stuff and really durable but more money. I look forward to your review on it!!!!

PS that Nevada riding looks sweet.

Not approved, but I thought the 26" specific 36 Fox Float will work with a 650b wheel.

Maybe the newest version allows more space? My 2011 Fox 36 has no more than .75" between the tire and arch with a 2.3 Butcher. If this is in fact the route you're going you might want to also make sure that at full travel the tire won't hit the crown.

How about the 180 Foxes? Do they have clearance like the latest 40 (still proto?) legs?

I don't know if this is a 26 or 27.5 thread when KRob replied to Jaybo's fork question.

I think you're right in saying it could fit, however you could also be limiting yourself to smaller tire profiles just because of the fork.

Dave might take that... I imagine you will have little trouble finding a buyer for the 429 if you go that way. Ride it with a for sale sign on it at SOMO or trail 100. I bet you would get offers. Let me now you do that, I want to see if it works. I might try it this weekend just for fun.

See, the secret is you do have to give them away. I've got an offer on the table for the Knolly I'm considering..... but it's quite a bit lower than I thought I'd take for it. But it's probably fair given the current used bike market.

I bet for the "right" price that Endorphin would sell fast.

KRob- Did you get a chance to ride a Chili during the Knollfest? If so how did it compare to your 5 Spot? I love my 11 Spot, but like so many, i've got the new bike itch. If I'm derailing the derailed thread, pm me or I'll post op on the "other" board.

I recently had the new bike itch too. Didn't work out so well. The Spot is tough to beat for all-around riding.

I'll be on a new Endo if I can sell the Pivot. Built nice and light, and a great compliment to the Chili.

Hmmm. After the last time you had an Endo(s)? Really? Just buy Lance's since you know Dusty will take care of you. Or treat yourself to an on sale now Sultan which is the DW 9er you should have purchased in the first place.

    And not cracked.

KRob seems to have lusted after the Burner. The selling of BOTH 26ers at the same time seems to lean in the direction of 27.5. If he was going Chili there are plenty of parts there to keep for the build.

It's fun (for me) to comment on others alleged builds. 5 spot for me baby! I'm with Lance! Or he is with me or something...
