    Maiden Voyage

I took spot up Noble Canyon for the first time last weekend. I can't say enough great things about this bike. My previous steed was a Giant NRS and I am without a doubt faster both climbing and descending on the spot - even at 2 lbs heavier.

I am getting a strange knocking sound that resembles a loose headset sound but it is tight. Has anyone had a similar experience with the FSA Orbitz Extreme Pro?

Maybe Aqua can show teach me how to wear shkorts, but lycra is fitting for this "half-roadie".

    Congrats!

    Nice jB,

Coincidently, I just ordered my black 5-spot with a FSA Orbit Extreme Pro (long cup) headset. And...I'm coming off an NRS too. Glad to hear you didn't have any problems adjusting to the more "trail bike" nature of the Spot. Those NRS' could sprint like h$ll.

Not sure if you got the FSA long cup model or not, but the guys at Go-Ride told me that they require a little more patience and skill to get them pressed in correctly. Could it be an installation issue? Keep me posted, I'd be interested in the outcome.

    Great bike build.

I can only imagine the transition from the NRS to the Turner was something akin to going from a hard tail to dully. It must be a big pleasure to ride after the NRS (Not knocking the ride, just my experience from going NRS to something similar to the spot)

Ah yes...could be my balls. The NRS was so stiff it pounded a camel toe into my tighties.

NOW I know why the baggies are in! Do we have Homer baggies yet?

I was lucky not to be drinking any coffee when I saw the camel toe comment. It would've been all over the keyboard.

    Classic.

Knocking sound could be your rear der. hitting the chainstay. Looks like an XTR der. on there right? Specialiized makes a nifty rubber thing that can fix that.

No it isn't and I think we found the problem. The asshats that pressed my headset in didn't face and chase the headtube...result is an f'ed up headset bearing and an annoying thunking sound when hitting rocks.

At least I get to keep my camel shorts!

Gives you extra grip when your out of the saddle in the gnar; just clench.

Your hairless body just oozes speed.

    Sweet ride bro. Very sweet.

I swapped out the headset for a Chris King and abused it at Noble over the weekend. No more clunking. Best I can tell, they just screwed up when pressing in the first one and it caused all sorts of trouble.

I think the FSA headset is good but it is hard to argue with the sexiness of a CK.

Thanks for the follow up Jb. I'm sure yours was an install issue, but I'll post if I have any similar issues with the FSA.

Kings are "king", I was try to save a few bucks, hope I don't regret it.
    Enjoy the ride.
