    Latest Case of UGI cured

After building my Flux with full XTR from my old rig, I decided to make some changes. I really hated the DC levers/shifters, wanted beefier brakes, and wanted a different crank. Here is what I ended up with:

    New Monkeylight bar
    X.0 shifters, X.9 rear der
Xt crank (used, luser I bought it from neglected to mention the worn middle chainring)
    Loiuse FR brakes

Brakes were a cinch to set up, though I did have to dremel the Fox fork. Everything else went together pretty smoothly, even trimming Magura brake lines was stupid easy.

Love the new brakes and levers, though 180mm on rear is overkill. Will probably swap to a 160mm eventually. Shifting is crisp, and I can shift 3 gears at once if I frikken' want . Cranks: Stiff as h*ll.

    Weight: 26.5#.

On order: Hope SPB and bar ends (in gold, to match HS)

(sorry about the weird picture sizes, I had to use a borrowed camera, then cropped everything)

J/P but I made you look. Nice upgrades, I am fighting real hard not to take home the 07 XTR shifters, F/R Der.s and crank that my shop just got in .

Man I love that black and gold. It really looks good on a Flux.

I've totally got my UGI under control, I haven't bought an upgrade in hours!
Faster is better, even when it's not.

UGI? can't fight UGI, it's futile any fighting it! Well, nice upgrades...

If you don't like the XT cranks or the brakes, you can send them to me, I'll make sure theyre disposed off properly...

Oh Yeah! I remember those old DG's - only they were not imported into Australia but I kept seeing them in the mags - talk about bike porn...

Just a word of caution, I had some ghost shifting problems on my El Saltamontes after replacing cables a year or so ago, and the culprit was too long a cable at the rear der.
I don't think I was the only person to experience this.
If you find you have this issue, you might want to shorten it so that it is almost straight.

I'm ordering bar ends and a seatpost clamp in gold. Unfortunately, If I want more gold it gets expensive (hubs). Maybe I could have my crank gold plated . .

Hehe . . blame it on the crappy pix. However, if you look reeeeallly closely, you'll see a bit of silkscreen (or whatever they use to mark the bars) poking out from behind the stem clamp. I had the bars centered (or so I thought) on the markings, and it was off by 1/4"

Oh, and I think I'm closer to 27#. I weighed with two different scales, and got two different results, so I'm splitting the difference.

Took a short ride today, man, this thing pedals fast! Can't wait to get it in the hills and see what it can really do. The brakes are crazy strong--weird, but with the extra braking power, I find myself using the brakes less . . . And I'm loving the shifters as well.

Still working on getting the front fork dialed in, but got the RP3 where I want it.

I'll include the obligatory pictures, though I think I did that on the builds page.

I started with the SRAM reccommended length, which was about 30mm longer than what I have now. I had a couple of ghost shifts today in the middle ring, so will keep an eye on that.
