I sold my Spot for a Playboy bunny...

That is, I sold my black medium Spot and bought a Playboy blue large Spot.

The colour is just as I wanted, the same as Soulcraft spec.

Finished the build today, so lots of fettling left to do and no ride reports as yet; these were taken just up the hill behind my town.

The fork feels freakin' ace though and the fit is spot on (ahem).

Thanks to the Turner crew and Tim at Sideways for sorting me out.

Yeah, actually Judith took the card while I had a sit-down :^)

You're right, I do love SS - I've been riding that and my geared hardtail most recently, but it was very interesting to ride up (and down) to where I took those photos of the Turner; 2 days ago I was riding through there on my 'cross bike - a very different experience!

    Cheers, Philip and JoD :^)

    Cheers!

Tim has all manner of funky coloured SDG saddles, but in the end I decided that the colour of the frame was the hero and everything else had to be just plain, monochrome and simple.

Where are you based? In the North West? As I would like to see what the fit is like on a large framed Spot
    Thanks in advance.

    No, I'm in the Chilterns

Dogvet - I'm based in the Chilterns between High Wycombe and Aylesbury - so not the North West I'm afraid! You'd be more than welcome to try it out if we ever meet - I'm sure there'll be Spot riders in your area too.

How tall are you/what's your inseam? I'm 5' 11" with particularly long legs for my height - the large is an excellent fit (and I know from experience that the medium is just a bit too small).

    Cheers!

Deano, I was just wondering did you actually get it painted at soulcraft or not?

I am a bit confused. What was the original color? Did they strip it?

Did you have to do anything special to get the clear tape to stick to the weld areas?

    Olympic...

Mr Bling - sorry to confuse; Olympic did the paint directly from Turner. I wanted the Soulcraft colour which is done over at Sycip and they gave me the code (it's not a RAL) for Olympic to match.

Cheers 'Zilla! It's not quite as spangly as your latest, but I like it :^)

The clear tape is quite thick, but very sticky - it has worked well for me over the years. As long as you keep it clean and burnish it down pretty firmly it stays down for ever and is invisible most of the time. Better than lumps of carbon-effect adhesive all over the place looking messy!

Sweet ride. Those pics taken with a DSLR by any chance? Hard to get the DOF with small fixed lens cams. Love the custom colors.

Deano, very nice looking spot. Where did you get the outlined silver downtube decals?

    Standard

They are the standard ones from Turner this year.

I had the reflective black ones from JNCarpenter on my old Spot - probably wouldn't work so well on this colour though.

    superb

nice to see custom colour for once what with all these black and silver spots in the UK. Very distinctive, ill keep a look out for you around surrey.

Enjoy your ride - how do you feel on the large now compared to the medium?
