It's about 90% that I won't be there I even grew out a sweet stache and chops for the event.

Mark and Robb will be handling the event in my absence.

Damm that's tough Sean. Being employed is certainly a priority.
Hope you and the fam are reunited soon.
Are you getting any ride time since you're "home alone"?

I will be back in time but i can't go more 120 miles from post for my first ten days. I guess the feel we might kill some one or something. They want to get us back into the real world slow and steady. I could chance but if i get hurt and need to see the docs i would be screwed!!!!! So i better pass this year, there will always be next year seeing how i will not be over here anytime soon. C-ya.

    Soooooo .... I'm considering a road trip.
What's the deal with lodging, and who can give up some more info about the rides planned? If I came down solo, would anyone be able to help put me up for a few nights?

Considering my RFX is built like an RFX, are we talking ridiculous climbing number each day or will there be a shuttle option?

I read some of the previous threads but didn't really find these answers. Thanks.

It's about 6 hours from H'ville, via the scenic route. Only ~30 miles in interstate driving.

Next year's HIP will have to include some lift assisted riding.

Looks like a new place to ride the lifts is opening near Asheville!

"Lift-Assisted Mountain Biking Arrives in the Southeast!
26 West Mountain Bike Park Prepares for Summer and Fall Operations.

The Southeast's only lift-assisted mountain bike park Grand Opening is May 31th, 2008. Only 30 minutes north of Asheville, NC, 26 West Mountain Bike Park is located at Breakaway Village in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The park will debut with the upper 7 trails, offering terrain for beginner to advanced riders, as well as a dedicated freeride area for hucksters. An additional 3 trails are under construction and are scheduled to be open later in the year. For the second year, Breakaway Village will host the North Carolina State Downhill Mountain Biking Championships. Race dates will be available by May 31th.

For 2009, 26 West Mountain Bike Park will continue to expand the freeride area and build more beginner, intermediate and advanced level trails.

The mountain bike park compliments outdoor activities at Breakaway Village, which already offers whitewater rafting, hiking, fly-fishing and horseback riding.

Lodging is available onsite. For more information contact (828) 689-2020 or 26west@breakawaync.com. www.breakawaync.com

That's gotta be the place Chris Herndon was talking about last year at HIP that was top secret and couldn't say where exactly where it was going to be.

You guys need to get your frame raffle tickets soon, I will be cutting the sales off on the 15th.
You want to ride behind someone who does something that?

Planning on being there...some of the time

WRTAYLO is in. Not sure how many days though. New baby and all. Are there any planned rides yet. A couple of buddies have some decent 30-35 milers. A good solid ride in Pisgah. It might be too soon to start thinking about routes, but it would help with planning.

Hopefully the homers will not mind if I bring the wife and new kid along to participate in any post ride eating / socializing.

Also, if anybody wants to try the bottle setup on their float or pike, let me know, and i will bring a couple of units. Simple plug and play.

    See ya in a few....

Even better, my boss sensed my displeasure and gave me one of the days for free

I'm driving from NYC, leaving Wednesday but spending the Wednesday night somewhere near Shenandoah, then will arrive in Brevard on the Thursday.

Steve, what time are you looking to arrive on the Thursday and what was the campsite you're staying at, do I need to pre-book?
