    Friday thread topic: STEEP?

So in the spirit of last Friday (Parting shot) I offer up a new photo topic, steep...

I'll start with some pics of the local loop, nothing worth writing home about but it is less than a mile from my front door...

Post your pics of the STEEPS!

From the top to the bottom, from the bottom to the top - well you get the idea.

Last pic is just a 'happy trails' shot. ¨Good rides to all this weekend!¨

A couple of shots of the same trail taken at different times last year, about 3000' above downtown Boise.

Excuse the quality - it was done with a very cheap web-cam type camera.

Here's a few from Palmer park, got plenty of steep nastiness there, the last one is called the "Improve" cause there are multiple lines, if you look at the trees you get an idea of the steepness.

It sure is steep! Pretty much vertical in the middle section.

You know they sometimes station an OC Sheriff right at the bottom of Smoothy and they put a fence on the side that drops onto the main trail..

Fun wreckers! In the past we used to sometimes spend an hour trying every possible line on Smoothy. Diagonals, slow competition, speed runs, jump the steep part, etc. I guess it's OK to build out every possible square inch on the ridges above the park, but having a bike ride down that rock is a big no-no.

There's a new one on the Canyon acres side that is about that steep and double the length with a funky transition.

Ya, how about the irony of the trail and park usage meeting at the Soka University eyesore. Phuck em, I ride where I want.

    Daayuuummm....

Thats what Im talking about! Great shots everyone, some rather inspiring fotos here. Great for inspiration the next time you are out and thinking you need to step-it-up a notch! I need to take some lessons from some of you. Thanks for the stoke, I personally did not ride much due to torrential downpours most of the day Sat and Sun - good to see all these sweet pics first thing Monday morning (at work...)

I even got a Renny / Singa Joke-jack in the middle, that does it, guess I will have to repeat with a new theme next Friday. Stay tuned! And keep em coming...keep showin them steeps.

    Cheers
    Chris

Crash, that wasn't my picture, it was in Brodiegrrl's group of pics above. I looked for some steepy pics in my batch of images but I don't have diddly. Some of the funnest steeps I have RIDDEN were in Nelson BC... the "dirty crack" comes to mind, it was a hoot but sketchy because there's not much room for error.

The steepest I've NOT ridden were on lower Boogieman on the Shore. I walked around them.

Cool shot terminaut. Kind of reminds me of a section of Slickrock Swamp that some of us were playing around on out in El C's hood.

El C would probably just huck that to flat though... and he'd probably just be wearing a speedo

You're exactly right. I think the Gooseberry Mesa region is my favorite camp/ride destination to date.

The steepie itself was fun and for sure nowhere near as bad as it looks... which is great because it took us about 5 tries before we could get the photo of both myself and my buddy Jon on the face of it while descending. I was literally a couple of inches behind him at the top but as soon as we went "over" the edge he rolled away really quickly.

Here are a couple more fun photos from my old photo archives.

    Last night...

We went to Falun and rode some basic North Shore stuff. The above section was not caught on tape (out of batteries) but here's a video: http://tnt.happymtb.org/film/2006/Tn...Kaellviken.wmv

Lame compared to what most guys can do but I'm progressing.

It was the first time I wore my Turner jersey
