    Censorship

    Puppet Masters:

Just curious as to why you yanked my post from the "State of the Turner Forum" thread? Are you using your almighty powers to smash any opinions that might stray out of what the herd finds acceptable?

    YAY, CENSORSHIP!!!

Sanitizing a trail blows...Sanitizing this place would blow.

Personally, this forum is a source of entertainment for me and a place to share the stoke during my downtime between rides. It's also a good resource to share ideas and stories.

However, I can only stomach so much drivel about how to fashion a gravity retarder out of popsicle sticks, so I simply glaze over and tune it out, or I simply click on another thread.

Try it, it's really not that difficult.

Some of you... your whole live's seem to revolve around MTBR, with these weird parallel internet personas, and that's pathetic.

    SHEESH.

Diversity in opinions is a healthy thing in my book. I find it totally offensive when the back slapping, nut swinging, and lock stepping, volume gets turned up too high.

For those of you little weenies that went whining to the moderators, or site owners, about something typed on this board....YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Leave it alone...don't dumb it down!

While I wholeheartedly support a "laissez-faire" stance on BB's [let the reader decide what's important or not] for a "consumer driven" BB......you have to still realize it's paid for by people who make bikes, and sell bikes. Don't get mad at the moderators, they are just protecting their machine, and keeping their sponsors happy and content......

And, we're starting to get into the funny-season.......winter, less riding opportunities, more frustration vented on BB's [not just this one] - I see it every year.

And yes, I've had my share of run-ns on the Michigan Mountain Biking Association BB - the flame warz there make anything ever seen on this BB equivalent to a coed pillow fight [see any issue w/ regards to Maybury winter riding ban, if you're really bored].............but, I'd rather decide for myself what's important or not.

Unfortunately, that choice does not exist universally. So be it.

Sanitizing trails is the wimpy, insecure, skill-less rider's way of saying "you can't make me improve my skills and work on challenging terrain, because I'll just make the terrain suit my level of skill."

Sanitizing threads is the wimpy, insecure, humorless internet forum poster's way of saying "you can't make me face up to the fact that other people have a sense of humor that is different from mine, and you can't make fun of me because I may implode from ego-bruising, so I will just complain to the moderators about any thread that feels insulting and if it doesn't stroke my ego then it feels insulting."

It's also the moderator's way of saying, "Look at me, I'm a big powerful boss-man!"

Rather than looking hard for "proof" that someone is being offensive or negative or hateful, the wimpier folks would be better served to try to remember that there are many forms of comedy, and that satire is a highly regarded form of comedy among people with exposure to thoughts, ideas and cultures outside the safe mainstream of Mister Rogers Neighborhood and NASCAR.

I think they are trying to steer us towards real content and away from hyperventilating. I will now attempt to save this thread...

The first generation prototype. No popsickle sticks were injured in this process. IT remote switch:

And it's hooked to a Descender post via a brake noodle and a Bic ballpoint pen.

    The next generation prototype...

Renny has been kind enough to look into making a few out of aluminum to retrofit other Desender posts for remotes.
My video techniques can be found in this thread.

Seems that the internet is subject to the social contract theory...everything has its limits regardless of how free/open we think it is....

I think the first thread I read on this board was two guys going it at on the CD forum about going 40 mph on a singlespeed or something like that...complete with pictures of guy squating a bunch of weight (WTF?)...it was damn (can I say this?) funny! As are many of the other internet spats. No wonder I like to bike alone.

King Homer has sanitized another comic thread. Thank you King Homer. We bow in obeisance to your FrankenTurner expertise.

Let us now return to the satire. This exchange was overheard at the Turner Homer Gathering earlier this year.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Homer 1 -- "Have a nice day!"

Tscheezy -- "Hi, I'm Tscheezy, and I'll be your Homer Captain on this trip! Today we'll be traveling to the land of Eternal Parts Swapping where we'll make this week's new FrankenTurner -- a bike designed for optimum show-off value on your roof-rack."

Homer 2 -- "Hi, Tscheezy. You're a genius. Tell me how I should build my Turner."

El Chingon -- "Hi, I'm Speedo Boy, and I'm the most highly skilled freerider in Homerland. My sense of humor includes pretending I'm not a flaming queen. My ego is massaged by posting pictures showing my weak-sauce skills and expecting others to praise me endlessly. If you joke about my skills I begin collapsing from within. I think they call it implosion. Now you're rockin' with Team Sanchez, puta!"

Homer 3 -- "El Chingon, you have MAD SKILLZ, yo!"

SSinGA -- "Hi, I'm SSinGA and I'm a free-XC armchair racing Homer who is at risk for donut-induced heart attacks. I have a damned nice bike that cost over $5,000 with all the deluxe parts on it. I swap tires regularly to show that I'm hip to the latest tread trends and my bike is built for serious freeride attacks even though I rarely leave the gravel path where I ride with my young children. I won't stand for being told that I'm a poseur because I may wither and die from that direct ego assault. Please go easy on me."

cactuscorn -- "Yo SSinGA, you're a rockin' cool dude and I'm sure your kids are impressed with your way-hot custom upgraded Turner. Don't let anyone tease you about it. You're a good father. You show them the value of materialism as a way of life and as a way of building self-esteem. And you set a great example for capitalism, proving that you need to support your local donut baker with a Daily Dozen."

Having different senses of humour is all good! I doubt anybody here has an issue with that.

Threads disclosing the location of illegal trails, posts that might aggravate user conflicts, or lead the the closure of any trail system are fair game to be shut down in my opinion (and no, I did not contact the mods about the zaxxon vs. pete thread).

Tip for homers: a simple PM or email to the original thread poster ("please remove pictures / details of illegal trail system ASAP" ) might be a better way to deal with these types of threads, as opposed to moderation or endless flame wars & drama.

aqua, chanzostrike, etc. there is no puppet masters, king homer, or little whining weenies (except for the moderator )... I am the sole moderator of this forum, occasionally a super mod like shiggy may stop by to delete an obvious spam.

I recieve very few complaints asking for posts or threads to be deleted and I typically only oblige when the original poster requests it. Personally I let stuff go unless it is a clear violation of Forum Guidelines, and even then I'm more likely to leave it.

The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that this forum is dedicated to a bicycle which bears the name of it's creator and everything that goes on here becomes associated with that person. DT has never done or said anything to deserve any disrespect, and I think it's important to remember that what goes on here can potentially reflect unfairly on him and his business.

I can not spend as much time as needed in here to read every thing that gets posted. Things were ugly last week and I had no time to get involved so I asked Gregg, who is plenty busy with other more important stuff, and the other moderators to have a look at the discussions taking place in here.

Maybe there should be different standards for moderating a forum that represents a manufacturer, it's not my call, but I thought opening up a discussion about it would help. Please continue to discuss in that thread, even if someone felt your previous comments were inappropriate.

Anyway, I've got nothing to say really, I don't want to have to moderate anything, I don't have any agenda to sanitize this forum, I do not recieve or ask for anything because I am the moderator. I pay full price for my Turners!

I don't even know what to tell you guys, but when the moderator of a forum doesn't even want to hang out there something is wrong. So keep it up, maybe a new moderator will surface, maybe the forum will get canned all together, maybe it will get renamed the Homer or the Clown Crap forum. It's up to you guys, I've got nothing to do with it, the only reason I accepted to volunteer to moderate was because the forum didn't need one (that was the good ol' days). I do appreciate everyone who keeps the best interest of the community in mind and helps with recognizing and addressing situations that could go bad in positive way.

    That's ridiculous.

Cactus would never include that many periods and his writing includes a good deal more run-on sentences.

I hope they ban you Mr. Chan.

btw, I just read your deleted post aqua and agree that there was no reason for deleting it. Again, not my call, but I really wish you would have posted your comments in that thread or via email to Gregg as he requested, he is the only one that can answer the question.

    Comedy

don't get yer panties in a wad just because you were once banned too.

Completely & effectively ban GonzoChan and I'm heading over to the Ventana board. Life around here is so dull without the likes of him, Aqua, Pete and Insane Frederick

In The Chan's public profile he states his name as Channing Oglethorpe from Berwick, PA.

Looks like The Chan has been spending most of his time in Germany lately and likes to use many different ISP's.

The Chan has also spent lots of time lately upgrading his internetting skillz too.

All for what? I couldn't even begin to guess, but it is obvious what's important in his life.

Any answers you may need in regards to who why and how people are banned I cannot provide, I do not have the power to ban users, and do not want it. I have enjoyed Gonzostrikes contributions to MTBR for many years, long before the Turner or F88 forum existed and am sorry to see how things have degraded.

As I sit in the office .. while its -1f outside .. I hope Aqua will keep posting pics and sharing stories of sunny So Cal riding.

Sorry to see Ariwreck out as the mod - R.I.P. - but thanks for the memories. Keep the Maui riding pics flowing too.

Besides the recent Zaxxon thread that went sour, and of course the completely stupid CF threads, exactly what is going on that you don't want to hangout here airwreck?

If Gonz is being a butthead then throw him out, it's his decision to post the stuff he does, but I get the feeling the threads that aren't "approved of" by some folks is what is causing the problem. I hang out here for a lot more reasons than Aqua and Team Sanchez huck shots, and tscheezy McGyver.

What makes this forum fun is EVERYONE, and the varying opinions and input on not just bikes, but bike culture and the people. Talking bikes nonstop is boring for a lot of folks, I hangout here for the cool people.

I'm not "out", this is like a union civil service job, If I don't show up I still won't get fired. I just do not have the time or desire to try and keep this forum on topic and police the guidelines.

If someone needs something, PM me, I'll get it taken care of.

Feeling responsible for not working more to maintain a civilized community bums me out, if someone feels they have the time and skill to provide some leadership speak up. I can't do it, so either do it yourselves or , just don't blame me for problems here, me blaming myself is adequate.

    My reluctant 2-cents.

Sort of a shame this discussion even needs to take place. Here's my thoughs since everyone's going to chime in anyway. I'm short on time lately so I'm going to try not to get into an exchange about this, and instead spend some time wrenching my bike since the weather sucks:

I just saw Greg's sticky thread on moderation for the first time last night. (Been busy as hell at work.) I'm flattered some folks nominated me, and I agree something needs to be done. Maybe three or so part-time moderators would be easier to do than finding one person with the time and comittment to really give each issue fair and critical evaluation.

It's a shame things aren't as self moderating as they used to be... BUT trolls draw trolls. The Nasty attacks and ranting is steadily eroding the goodnature of the environment. This can only encourage the passing, and the lurking mean-spirited people to pile on. The mean tone will slowly discourage the non-negative people from contributing stoke and eventually they'll stop coming by all together.

You might think the nay-sayers are a bunch of "hens" and "babies" but sooner or later the attacks will outnumber the stokes and this fourm will loose it's appeal to all but the flamers, the trolls and their cowardly troll-helpers who like to watch flamewars in other peoples forums.

Letting the crap fly unchecked is like leaving graffiti on the wall or not fixing broken windows. It'll only tell the vandals "Nobody cares...go ahead knock yourself out."

Moderation is a slipery slope but it does not have to be black and white forever either. Crackdowns can be even more useful when done in cycles that match the surges of trolling, and lighten up after the general tone of things settles down. As long as people don't hold the moderators accountable for absolute perfection.

For now, I think we should let the Mods decide when enough is enough and when to just let things take care of themselves. Right now it's my opinion we're deep in the enough is enough phase.

They're going to make some tough calls but I think It's better to have one clever jab get deleted, than let 10 nasty pointless attacks float in the bowl...and thus send twenty people who came here for stoke to look elsewhere.

I don't believe moderation should always result in the ultimate "click and remove/lock" scenario. A moderator can step in and try to make peace before going that route, as locking and removing doesn't work out the situation at hand.

Yes there are many tools a Moderator can use. Reasoning is one of them...provided the people involved are themselves reasonable. It's a case-by case type of thing which is why it's so time consuming.

    I agree with Zilla.
For the most part I' m a silent reader of these forums. I'm hear to check cool pics, set -up tips, and keep up with the latest bling.
Some posts are like car wrecks...you just have to look. Yes, I might find it entertaining to read Cf's rants or some other users throwing insults. There does need to be a line that should not be crossed to keep the heap from getting bigger. There is nothing wrong with differing opinions discussing but when the sh1t starts flying, something must be done.
Moderation is not censorship. It keeps the trolls and neysayers from dragging us all down.

    Freedom of speech

    ...but also, RESPECT!
As in most societies, there are rules/laws that usually boil down to behaving with respect and responsibility.
That means everyone. Those who intentionally break the rules/law deserve to be disciplined.

Good-humoured jousting is fun and entertaining. Intentionally being a cornhole-io is just rude and stupid.

Personally, I usually just come here to try to learn something usefull and for the pictures.

And, btw, I've learned that the ignore function works quite well!

... and if we just ... yer funny peeps

    yo homers,
i haven't checked in for a while,, wheew-e everyone is all tweaked.
personally, whether chan be gonzo or not..... he is funny. and that's what it's all about, colorful commentary, right. i mean let's try and keep it entertaining.if it was all talk of how to make a rfx sub 30 or connect the gravity retarder to a remote control/tiVo, well it just wouldn't be much fun.
all the color provided by aqua, Fohomer, and pals is priceless, let's just remember it's only a INTERNET bulletin board. i mean not even a movie, if yer ego is sore, grow up, get over it, and most of all; don't allow yourself to fall into flametraps.
any fool knows the homer forum is like south side chicago after dark sometimes. 'just walk straight ahead and with purpose.... no eyecontact unless you want to start ****'

just my take; homerland is a funny place, and i think you guys all rock. and yer the coolest. and best looking. did i forget how smart everyone is. plus so so hard-core SICKENINGNEST.

Heck, if you don't want to read it then don't read it.
Some of it's funny. Some of it's stupid and may be funny. Some of it is way to serious for me to get upset over and I move on.
There's also lots of good input for really useful stuff. If you're not a complete a$$hat people actually give useful answers to your bike-related questions and help you out. That's what I get out of the Homer Nation.

I go to the my local board for insults from folks I actually know, they are very good at it. We abuse each other online to the great amusement of others and share brews after rides.

So what do you think you have control over? Others posting trolls and flames, or you ignoring it?

    Think really hard about this....

    It's about control.

Us controlling ourselves or others controlling us.

    'Zilla's right

'Zilla, as usual, eloquently hit the nail on the head. Flaming is tedious. Verbal graffiti for sure. The Turner Forum, formerly a jewel, is getting boring, noninformative, and just another place for people to have tantrums, like so many other forums that have gone down the tubes. It will die without the intervention of moderators. Moderate away. Please. There are lots of other places to go have a spit ball fight for those who want that kind of fun. Freedom of speech .... give me a break.

Oh yeah .... very nice work Tcheezy. Let's see more.

I think the mods should spend about a month totally kicking ass. I mean, just delete anything questionable. Bang some heads together. If it's even off topic, it's gone. A pogrom (apologies to those of Jewish persuasion) around here may be just the horse pill this board needs.

I agree that trolls attract trolls. Take them all out with the trash.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Approachng this issue using logic is just plain uncalled for

While I generally agree that we should be allowed to post what we want and there should be no censorship... There has to be a limit.

There are a lot of positive contributors to this forum and I hope that they will continue to post.

The occasional troll isn't much of a problem either. The negative post sbecome a problem when posting becomes work instead of fun. Some of the trolls on this board look for openings into which they can pour some of their personal bile. Instead of discussions, they foster arguments over trivia. The best thing you can can do is to just ignore them if you don't like it. If it gets out of had, the moderatiors will do their job.

This site is a business and businesses occasionally have to call the cops to keep the lowlife from destroying their livelyhood. sad... but true.

Good job! Love the thread, keep it going

The only lame thread on this forum right now is this one. I propose we keep it ALL in this thread and we'll all be just fine. The "trolls" are laughing their a$$es off right now.

    Pete,

That pic with the bubbles is awesome. What camera produced the best contribution to this thread?

BZ I think you put it very well

I read Greggs post yesterday for the first time and was a little bummed he closed it since he made it a sticky, I did't feel there was a full balance in his views so in some ways kudos to Aqua I think this should be discussed more without getting off topic cheers T

lI also thought last week for the Turner board was a little lame and a little negitive which compared to the week before was just going off with most having some good fun enjoying the usual twisted Homie humor which is not personal in my view or intimidating to visiting mtber's who should be welcome
I think we are pretty welcoming

Maybe some posts last week did go a little offline, but there are some basic curtesy rules I apply when going to another board that I don't have a direct input to e.g going to the Santa Cruz board, if I post there it may be in jest or to add something of value maybe, but not to incite flame, or just cause trouble, hence my response to recent CF posts, I have nothing personal re CF or DB for instance but felt they need to understand there part in why they received mainly a negitive response, now that has been put to bed and maybe we can all play in the sand pit again and move on.

Im not keen on censorship either but if its gonna take place then there should be balance after all this is the Homie board and generally even if we are misunderstood we are pretty harmless and just a little twisted DON"T take it personally.

Anyway I think Airwreck does a great job considering the traffic flow and apart from recent events not much is really required, the usual suspects always try to create havoc and mayhem on every thread as mentioned above but I generally don't take them seriously and just laugh it off as overly twisted minds with too much time on there hands.

We moderate each other in our own way so harden up I say, and if ya do ride with these nobs and they get too much just 99 on the trail, thats what I do to my riding buddies when they tap my rear d or go a little ottaye Spotz.

Tip for homers: a simple PM or email to the original thread poster ("please remove pictures / details of illegal trail system ASAP" ) might be a better way to deal with these types of threads, as opposed to moderation or endless flame wars & drama.
I agree totally, FM. Especially on the illegal trail stuff. Zach's obviously a good rider. The photos were inspiring, and the trail looked like it would be very fun to ride. But the silly dancing he did around the point of illegality showed that no matter how good a rider he is, no matter how cool the photos or how fun the trail, it's not smart to brag about illegal trails in a public forum -- and it's arguably even dumber to build them in an area that's so obviously not private land and so obviously isn't intended for Zach's private MTB riding pleasure.

Respect is earned. You should try that concept on for a trial run. You might begin to understand it.

As to "breaking the rules" and "discipline," you should try some intellectual maturity and some self-esteem development outside the concept of copycatting and being a "joiner" of clubs like the "Homers". You might actually find that comic remarks don't feel so insulting any longer.

The difficulty with the humor is that it seems so masturbatory. The only one that gets any pleasure from it is you. I can't speak for the rest of the crowd here, but the last thing I want to see in the middle of a public square is some guy trying to rub one out just to get a rise from any passers by.

    Aaaaaah. The old "business" angle.

You live in my town. Correct?

Where did you move here from? Seattle? Chicago? Minneapolis?

I suggest you take your "business rules over everything" attitude and yourself back to that urban area where people worship money and "business." People like you and the attitude you display in this thread are a big part of the reason why this town has begun to suck donkey testicles over the past 5-7 years of cityfolk influx.

And if you're a native, you should be ashamed of your cityboy pretenses.

No humor intended. Just making an observation.

I do appreciate some commentary that may help puncture some of the "groupthink" (some may call it consensus) to inject some different ideas into the discussion.

However, until I see you contribute anything original (pictures, inventions) I see the purpose of most of your posts as a run of the mill troll.

I've made my contribution to this discussion. I'm now going to go on my semi-challenging, yet throughly enjoyable ride on one of my expensive bikes that I'm sure would be judged as being too good for someone of my limited riding skills. Maybe I'll even take my camera with me and take some pictures that will hopefully contribute something positive to this forum.

    Adios...

They had privately owned internet forums back then? Although it was a horrible political system, it never ceases to amaze me what the Soviets did with less money and technology. Their computers were probably made of vacuum tubes and plywood, eh?

Funny Chan...I can't remember when insulting someones intellegence was a good form of humor.
I've got thick skin. Why do you feel the need to attack people for having diferent opinions? Even if you call it humor, your not adding anything helps your side of the arguement.

A select few should stick to the Cesspool forum. Others please get back to posts of bikes and bike-related stuff. The topic of censorship has everyone's views stated already so we should be done here.

Try this concept on for a trial run:

Next time you meet someone (or they post on a forum), give them your full respect from the start.

If they piss you off or act like a moron, then don't give them any more respect.

Thanks. Very good point, but I'd stand a much better chance with a good camera than a good set of oil paints.

May I also add that the bubbling photo is one of the best I have seen.

And if you're a native, you should be ashamed of your cityboy pretenses.
Interesting. I've been it this area for 20 years. How long have you been here (if your here is the same as mine )? Maybe you're a bad influence

Gonz. I suggest you mind your own "business" You know nothing about me. I don't worship money or business. I am, however, a realist.

You're amazing. After all of the diatribes that you've posted here... you have the amazing gall to talk about attitude? You need a group hug.

Yep. I'm responsible for all of the ills of society. I'm rich beyond belief and I've personally paid off all of the politicans in the area. Shhhhhhh... Don't tell anyone

I don't care what people post on this site. I am, however, concerned that this site could cease to exist if it turns into a repository for trash. Francis runs the site and whether you want to believe it or not, it IS a business. Its success depends on reader participation and advertising. If it turns into a place that the manufacturers and retailers don't want to be associated with... it will go out of business.

So be a nice guy and continue to post. I'm pleasantly surprised that you have been able to refrain from personal attacks... well, not completely, but it's not too bad for you

So I guess I should start a thread titled " I'm Sorry to everyone" and apologize for being such a posuer too. I'm not a good enough rider to warrant respect from Gonzo and my heart is broken. I think I'll go cry in my wheaties now. I'm gonna call off tommorow's ride too. I mean there really is no point in even trying any more. I'm gonna sell my Turners and buy a KHS. Maybe then he would stop making fun of me. But before I do can everyone re-assure me that I'm making the right move? I really do want his approval, will this work?

For now, I think we should let the Mods decide when enough is enough and when to just let things take care of themselves. Right now it's my opinion we're deep in the enough is enough phase.
Given your perspective on things, you would make an excellent moderator.

Oh. and thanks for the ignore list reminder . . forgot about that one.

I don't care if your tiny mind feels insulted, and therefore you cannot see the humor. Humor is a matter of taste. There is nothing universal in it. While you prefer the nice guy humor of Fred Rogers and his Happy Neighborhood, pabulum and strained peas, etc., I happen to enjoy a different brand.

And no, I'm sorry, I'm not going to change my commentary to suit your puritanical lack of respect for different kinds of humor.

Thanks for the lecture, Rev. Falwell. But I must tell you, your hypocrisy makes my eyes bleed.

    What bravery!

I think that my humanity and masculinity are quite well intact, compared to Fatzilla, regardless of what you might think or post in here.

    Interesting commentary.

You must be among those who've been dumbing down the trails this past summer. I know they're tough for some of the elder set who ride their doctor/lawyer expensive bikes that never get pushed very hard.

Keep removing those roots and rocks so that Missoula's trails all resemble dirt sidewalks. The Dork Brigade probably congratulated you at their annual end of season meeting... which probably was back when the daily temperature average went below 65 deg F and it got dark after 5pm. Wouldn't want to be out there when it's chilly, or when it's dark. Scary. There's wild animals out there!

(uh, please try to not take yourself so seriously next time, Captain. Thanks!)

Wow. So you are Jerk Chicken?

    Interesting!

And you let my comments make you wonder if you're a poseur?

    Even more interesting!

Here's a hint for you, Poodle Master -- If you're not a poseur, you should be able to laugh at my comments because they're not applicable.

    OOPS!

PS: I wonder if you note the irony of your weak sarcasm above, because you are among those who follow the Homer Approval Report Card method of equipping your bike.

Funny how you are the only one who jumped at that "cesspool" remark. You predictably recognized the reference to your idiocy

Why don't you go back to that scumbag forum you love so much and stay out of here where you are not welcome and contribute absolutely nothing. Choosing a few big words doesn't make you appear intelligent; just rabid. Now go away after counting the ridiculous number of your lowish-IQ posts in this thread, whackjob!!

Remember- a dozen rabid posts and a few flowery words does nothing but reveal what a complete idiot you are. Now go away, little girl!!

Oh, I don't think you really are a little girl but you sure act like one. You're acting like a angry little girl who can't find any friends to play with and is wondering why. I don't care who you are (gonzo or not) but you sure come off as being an angry little personality. It's sad if you're the same way in real life. Nobody likes an angry freak hence nobody likes you. Stay and reveal your cesspool unbringing or go away like everyone wants you too. Either way, your posts make no meaningful difference. They do lower the standards of any threads you contribute to though.

I don't know how I missed this little gem the first time through. Godwin's Law states:

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving the Nazis or Hitler approaches one."

Its a simple but vague probability argument. A probability of zero means the event (a comparison involving the Nazis or Hitler) will NEVER happen. A probability of one means the event will occur with CERTAINTY. As the post count of an internet thread increases further from 1 the probability of the event occuring moves further away from zero.

The real defect of Godwin's Law (and I think it was intended to be more social commentary than "law") is its uselessness. One can substitute any word or phrase and the law still holds. In fact its true for any set of randomly generated characters.

What's funny is prior to your post no one mentioned the Nazis or Hitler until you came along. Then, having compared Tscheezy to Hitler you quickly moved to distance yourself from having made the event occur. Nice try.

What's also funny is your conflation of the word "pogrom" with Hitler and Nazi Germany. We'll skip all the history, etymological or otherwise, but the term "pogrom" is generally associated with Czarist Russia in the early nineteenth century (Odessa circa 1820?) not Nazi Germany.

So in the generally good natured tenor of the Turner forum (with the conspicuous exception of you) I hereby propose Clyde's Law of the Turner Forum:

"The longer Gonzostrike (aka Article 48, aka pablo_b, aka The Chan) particpates in a Turner forum thread the probability of the use of the words poseur, Homer (used pejoratively), lemming, bling, donut, mad skillz, Team Sanchez, Bender, coward, or hypocrisy approaches one."

In other words, chances are pretty good that if you participate in a thread its likely to take a turn for the worse. In general, seeing your Screen Name of the Month in a thread is like sitting outside, reading a good book, only to have a flock of pigeons fly over and crap on the pages.
