    bushing durability on dw frames

    Hi,

How durable are the bushings on the dw frames? How often should it be greased. My spot seems having some premature wear of the bushings or the seattube pivot shaft(not sure) because of the continious up and down play on the pivot area. I adjusted the seattube pivot bushings position and now the play is gone but has transferred to the clevis bolts.

I have only greased it once since getting it in May 2012 so I think that contributed. If you were in my situation, would you continue riding it? I'm afraid that it may cause misalignment or frame failure if I take them for granted. Du bushing is all good btw.

    Vic

    Turner Bikes - Turner FAQs

We recommend that pivots be lubed via the zerk fittings every 15-20 hours of saddle time, in wetter conditions lube more frequently.

    Pretty robust if maintained...

Bikes with play in the bushes start to handle 'differently'. More so with more play.

Along with this, how do I know when to stop greasing the zerks? I feel a bit of resistance on my grease gun. Is that a sign for me to stop or should I go on until I can no longer press on the grease gun?

Until resistance is fine...if you carry on you'll purge the bearings, not good!

    Thanks for the reminder!
Mine had never been re-greased after building it ;-)
Luckily, mine never develop a creak or play since day 1,
Now, where the h*ll was that grease gun?! :-(
