    Brake fluid questions

What exactly does Avid bottle as Juicy brake fluid?

Avid says DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 can also be used if Avid fluid is not available. Can either of these be mixed with Juicy fluid?

    Thanks.

P.S. The search function isn't working for me or else I wouldn't bother you all with a question I'm sure has been covered.

To put it simply yes. I believe they come filled with the 5.1 and dot 4 will mix with it. Do not put dot 3 in it, dot 3 will not mix with dot 5.

    happy trails...

I believe DOT 5 is different from 5.1. 5 is silicone based.

DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 are compatible with one another, and all contain glycol which can absorb moisture.

DOT 5 is silicone based, and does not absorb moisture.
