Ben's Blue Bike (BBB) - Turner 5 Spot

A lack of Blue 5 Spots means I have to post mine on here for you. Just so you can see her sexiness before you read my blurb...

Frame: Large Blue 5 Spot w/ Romic 550
    Fork: Fox Vanilla R
    Gears: XT (SRAM PC-59 chain)
    Brakes: Hope Mono M4
    Wheels: Mavic XM 321/Hope XC
    Tyres: Conti Vert 2.3
    Headset: Raceface Deus
    Bars: Easton EA70 Monkeybar
    Stem: Thompson Elite
    Post: Raceface XC
    Saddle: SDG Bel Air

Had my dream bike built up complete with pink cables a week ago today. She makes a mockery of anything in her path - I cannot believe that this bike actually lives up to its own hype. I have to admit I expected it to disappoint but it really doesn't. I appreciate there is no XTR, TALAS or pimpy lightweight carbon bits on this bike - but I don't think I need them. For the record, the '5 Spot' sticker on the TT looks cheap and the blue looks like a little too much until you build her up - blue, black and silver makes a sexy bike IMO.

    I still...

...don't understand the decision to powdercoat vs. polish stays (other than $).

Definitely a looker, but I like the clean looking rear end on my polished RFX.

    Nice build.

    Lol

    LOL @ Bikezilla

I wanted the polished rear end and silver stays but the only large blue the UK Importer had was this frame - Blue is pretty rare this side of the sea

In retrospect I quite like the all blue; aslong as you have some fat black tyres too offset the blue it's OK.

    White stickers

White stickers hmmm... Could look cool.

I quite like the charcoal tho because it makes people look closer. Two kids were looking at my bike today and one of them basically went:

"Nice bike, what is it...? *looks closer* oh **** it's a Turner!." As we pushed together to the top of a DH run all sorts of questions popped out of them. They almost respected me untill they saw me ride

And yeah Mono M4s - tops. Much better IMO than the M4s.

The polished rear looked much better and you can clean it up like new. I guess it was about money.

    I disagree

I'm really coming around to the painted rear end TBH.

It mgiht be about money, but Ellsworth and Titus both has polished rear ends. I feel that my Turner is special because it doesn't.

I dunno. The '5 Spot' stickers on the TT are crap tho.

Damn sticky! If I use my right hand for everything else, it certainly makes sense to use it to operate my most important brake. It's how I was brought up in the UK aswell

What's wrong with MonoM4's? Yes, they come stock with warped rotors and Yes they take ages to bed-in, but if they do, they work fine. I have 2 sets

Nothing at all. I was saying Mmmmm as in yummy. I think you were confusing it with Hmmmm ...as if I were second guessing the original poster's decision to use them.

I'll take a set of yours off of your hands... I'll give you my Hayes in exchange. I've never had a problem with them... really.
