    and baby makes 5

after a grueling 9 year wait and a 4 month long labor, candycorn has her 1st turner and wed like to welcome the new stinger to the family. this makes 5 turners in the romper room aka the home shop. as you recall, we put the SPaaNB, my somewhat portly child, up for adoption as well as tina the flux, who was tragicly lost on the way to meet her new father, leaving us with 5 turners now that this beautiful little bundle of joy has come to bless us. we couldnt be more proud.

unfortunately, she has a birth defect. the good news is we have 2 excellent doctors taking very good care of her and we expect her to have a full recovery very, very soon. part of her bone structure is a bit short causing some of her joints to not quite meet up properly. seems there was some mixing of geans in the womb and 1 thing got swapped for another. theres some medical jargon but in short, her chainstay is 1/2" shy of normal and we suspect this is keeping her shock from reaching its mount without major contact with the top tube. i hope this wasnt too graffic of a explination. we know doctors greg and david will fix her up as good as new.

shes yet to be named (ill leave that up to momma) and her outfit may change as well. all the same, please say hi to our newest.

Looks pretty sweet, I especially dig the old school XT rear der. To bad they don't build them like that anymore, those things lasted for ever.

    Hope Candycorn enjoys it

    happy trails...

What you are really saying is that you have a 01 chainstay and a 98-00 seatstay and they aren't designed to go together because the chainstay pivot was moved forward on the 01 rear end.

For reference see the photo below. Above is the 98-00 chainstay (on a 98 frame in this case), and below the 01.

CC your photos remind me of these photos of a frame I picked up cheaply a while back.

i think you have the right idea. i swapped dt my '01 disc rear for what i think was a earlier version but its marked "old 02" on the lower yoke. once a saw the problem, i got out the tape measure and came up 1/2" shorter i2i than my '00 rear chainstay so i figured the shorter stay changed the angle of attack of the shockstay enough to force the end of the shock up into the top tube. yeah, i saw the diff in the pick up point too which cant help much.

called greg back right away to tell him the news and give him the numbers so he could figure it out with dt. that was tuesday and nuthin back yet. damn doctors must be on a golf vacation.

If you really need a bolt on adapter I can get one machined up for you.
