Anyone tried a 24" wheel on a Highline??

A buddy of mine suggested that I build up a 24" wheel for for the rear of my highline. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if so what were the benefits?

Just a guess here but theres probably a reason why Spesh went away from this set up on the big hit. But please feel free to try and report back your results. To bad Tscheezy doesn't have a Highline he might have tried it out already.

Specialized did it so they could make a short as chainstay. As a highline isn't designed around a 24" wheel, it would just effect the geo and make bumps worse. There are better ways to customize the way turners ride besides running a smaller wheel.

Thanks for your help, I'll just build up a burly 26" wheelset for downhill.

    whats up jason

I just returned home from buying a new phone, lost the charger so I was MIA for a few days. I still owe you 60 from the kingdom trails, I have some safety meeting equipment to trade you. How about a ride this week, what day is Jamaican Night at the farm??

If you want a slacker head angle and a slightly lower BB height then a 24" wheel might be an answer. The negatives to 24" wheels is that they don't roll over sharp hits as well as a larger diameter 26" wheel and there are less tire choices.

    Thanks Scott

That was my thinking. I also entertained the idea of throwing a 888 or fox 40 on but that would raise the bb which I'm not looking for and I would have to get a different headset.

If I built a 24" wheel and mounted a 2.5-2.7 that would yield a slightly lower bb and slightly more slack ht angle. Could be worth a shot for the downhill days.

    Thanks again.
