Anybody ever remove anodization off of parts?
Anybody ever removed the anodization off of parts and then simply polish them? I’m building up my wife’s Burner and I’ve got black cranks, stem and post that I’d like to do this to, but I don’t want to ruin the parts. A couple of years ago a buddy of mine used oven cleaner to do this to some 80’s/Barney purple ano’d components and they turned out looking pretty sharp, but how they've held up over the years I don’t know.

Those cranks are still in service today on one of my bro-in-law's bikes.

Thanks Pete. I think I'll offer the cranks as the virgin sacrifice and if all goes well the Thomson post & stem may be next.
