This is a good bike. I just did a full day demo of a new Chilcotin and while the Knolly is brilliantly good, the 5 Spot is close enough that i don't have to have a new Chilli just yet.

My five 5 Spots over the years:

    Spot #1 - a 2006 TNT

    Spot #2 - a 2008 TNT

    Spot #3 - a 2006 TNT

    Spot #4 - a 2009 DW link

    Spot #5 - a 2010 DW link

Plus a few action shots... who needs an RFX when the Spot is so capable?

    Whistler

    Moab

    Fruita

    Morzine

    5 Spot Chronology

Here are the different 5 spots I have owned over the years:

    2003 HL:

    2005 HL:

    2006 TNT:

    2010 DW:

    Now some actions shots:
    South Mountain:

    Moab:

I got my Blue one in the Feb 06 MBA:

I got the Green TNT in there too on the subscription page. They ran this for a few months. This was shot on one of my local trails at the time and I loved drifting this corner:

DW takes it all to a new level:

    Thanks!

This is at the bottom of Porc. I was looking at doing this and there were a bunch of guys at the bottom telling me jokingly that it's easy and they all did it. I said OK and rolled it! It wasn't that bad.

Here is the original moab trip thread, it was my first post to the Turner Forum.

Looks like Jackass Canyon using the "I wouldn't even consider that line if I was using your bike and your body" line. Good job SS. I've never even seen anyone try that line...

thanks. enjoying the setup as well. never had a chance to weigh it out yet but guessing around 28-29 lbs. feels plenty lighter though.

they are definitely lookers. we'll see about the longevity though. my last wheelset (hadley hubs laced to mavic 823) were absolutely bombproof. i miss the sound of the freewheel on those as well.

Yes. It's about a 3.5 to 4 foot off-camber near vertical roller with a 3 inch line to hit or you OTB into that rock on his right.

Here's one from this week when I was in the Bay Area. Kind of a whip/table thing going on here.

Here are a couple more from my trip.

I rode Bear Valley up in the Sierra's. Really great riding up there!

Here's my nephew on a granite section. There was a lot of this stuff

And another from the jump park. This place is down the street from my sister's house in Pleasanton. Lots of fun and tons of jump lines.

My nephew boosting a transfer line. Not a Spot but hey it's a cool shot

We also rode Demo Forest in Santa Cruz. It was a good trip

    Phoenix South Mountain

Here is a couple shots from the top of Geronimo and the upper waterfall on National trail in Phoenix Arizona. This was the maiden voyage on my recently built 2011 5 Spot. Great bike up and down the mountain!!

Typical sight when I top out on a hill... a bunch of guys waiting for me. I guess I can't blame that on DT though.

    Is This a 5 Spot?

Not trying to hijack the thread, just figured it was a good place to ask with all the knowledge floating around here.

Nice set up Cope. That should work well for SoMo with the 55 RC3 and the Chubbie. It's like a mini RFX!

Thanks. I'll pass on the kudos to the photographer.
It's a 55 RC3 Ti. Great fork. I had some minor issues getting it set up right and getting used to it for the Spot, but I'm really digging it now. Still like to try something a bit shorter and lighter sometime, like a Revelation 150 or a 44.

Revelation 150 is a great match for your 2010. Love mine on my 2010. Looking forward to your review of the Burner...

When I got the frame (used) that decal was kinda torn up and peeling so I just pulled it, thinking the whole thing would come off....but only "rner" came off. Haven't bothered getting new decals yet.

Mine is getting gouged up in a few places but for the most part it shines up pretty well when clean..... A little extra "saturation" while photo editing helps too.

    5 Spot Photo Thread [o]-imageuploadedbytapatalk1347167581.132129.jpg

Made a couple of changes on my Spot

    - Flow EX rims
    - Flats to DX clipless
    - Hope M4s to 2013 Saint brakes
    - DHX 5 coil to Monarch Plus RC3 (It's a bit stiff being a MM tune. Hope to get that sorted soon)

Thanks! How's your 1x10 conversion going along?

The 2013 Saints are great! I thought I'd miss my M4s, but these modulate so well and the power is just there. No regrets with the switch.

My weight fluctuates at around 160-165 ready to ride with gear.

I use a 500lb spring on the shock and stock spring on the fork with zero air and coil preload. No problem using all the travel without any harsh bottom out.
