Here are a few photos from this weekend's Sedona & South Mountain trip.

The 5 Spot felt great going up and down. I never felt like I needed more bike

Made some updates to my 5-Spot...just replaced today my Crankbrother's Krono with a KS LEV...hoping to have better performance. Last week installed a FOX 34 with a 10mm travel reducer to put it at 150mm. I have 5hrs on it...much better than my 32...real stiff through the descending banking corners and drops! But of my 5 FOX forks this is the first on to make the "Robot S&X" noise...oh well works great! Plan on getting new Stan's Flow wheels built during the winter and maybe a CCDB coil...would like to try some amateur endro racing.

Some action shots are attached as well...bike works great...camera/camera man not so much...haha.

    Cheers,

LncNuvue/jjkitt, crazy good pics there. Looking at action shots never gets old! haha. DT should be proud...but not surprised. :-)

South Mtn/Sedona was on the early spring menu for me, but now I'm tempted to fanagle a hall pass sooner!!!

Big deal, I tried a new Endorphin and prefer my 5 Spot to it. It's a personal preference thing. I favor Turner build quality, handling, geometry, fit and the DW link Let's move on now.

    Tahoe trip from September.

First pic is on the Flume trail in Tahoe and these guys on the trip those are some funny normal faces! YES that is a custom 5 bike rack I made, Sportworks double welded up a coupler w axle mount then attached the cheaper 2 bike tray rack. It worked great! I did Mr. Toads, Downieville, Flume, and few other trails in and around Squaw Valley. Great trip even with a last minute warranty 5 Spot setup!!!

Putting my faith in the type II rear D. If I start dropping chains, I'll end up getting a CRD. But wanted to see how it would work out without one first.

Is that a Chubbie? How do you like it?

    Which fork is that? 55?

I PUSH'd my RP23, its better, but still not a coil

I've got a 55 microadjust TA. It works great, but I would like to try a evo.

Are you in the desert? I park at Target and start right behind at the trail head where bump n grind goes to the right and hop a long goes to the left. When I do this ride it's usually an out and back to the cross or I'll ride bump n grind first and then head to the cross. Typically it's my Tuesday early AM ride.

Got my final build in, so here are a few shots from a recent ride, unfortunately my new fork is in for warranty for a creaking crown issue but good news is that it will be coming back as a black float instead of a talas

Sorry SylentK missed your post. Yes, Avalanche Chubie shock and a 55 RC3 Ti fork. Both about 2 years old, first on my 6 Pack and now on the Spot. Great performance and pretty much trouble free. Recently put the stock RP23 on to compare, actually didn't feel too bad. Comparable to the Chubie on the climbs, not so much on the descents. Also started leaking after a couple rides.

    Spring in the San Gabes...

Out on a training run with our HS MTB team, up Brown Mt. to the top, then 24 folks down El Prieto -- our local single-track testpiece. The Station Fire wiped this area out in '09, and since it came back, the native bush poppies are much more prevalent. Adds a splash of color...

    I'm back...

After 2 mos. of injury recovery,
    had 4 hours riding yesterday,
This bike still amazes me, awesome climber,
Still go down fast even with a shorter and lighter fork on it,
Sorry folks, only post-ride parking lot picture here...
Now sits at 29lbs and it just feels right

    jigbalot,
Nice rig! I like the touch of blue, looks great.
How do you like the 36mm stanchion fork? I have a 34 but just recently purchased a 2013 X-Fusion Vengeance HLR for another frame. The frame won't be in for a while and thinking of throwing the Vengeance on my Spot for a while.

    Cheers,

In OC, at Vista lookout in O'Neil Park, looking out at Saddleback, realizing we need to do Joplin again soon.

How do you like the 36mm stanchion fork? I have a 34 but just recently purchased a 2013 X-Fusion Vengeance HLR for another frame. The frame won't be in for a while and thinking of throwing the Vengeance on my Spot for a while.

    Cheers,
I like it better its stiffer, sturdy on descend thanks

    Vista Lookout!

Hey 2XTurner that looks familiar! Here is my old frame before it cracked, on a DW now. Pic is looking the other way but same location! I just rediscovered O'neil and Vista is super fun, the top ping-ponging off the minicurbs on the singletrack and flowing down the center at the bottom launching the little drops going for top speed!

    5 Spot Photo Thread [o]

Here is my original four bar 5 spot still going strong here in Scotland.
I take it out for nostalgia trips, and it still proves to be very capable.

Yeah. Normally the start of a big descent, but greasy as hell in that picture. A large cliff on the right makes things very interesting too.

Rains have let up this weekend in the Philippines so I was finally able to squeeze some ride time.

Trying out a Pushed RT3 and a Lyrik RC2 DH Solo Air after using coil on the back and front for the past 2 years.

I admit it really feels weird and I miss the soft-as-a-cloud feeling of the coil shock compared to the RT3 (which feels a bit stiff). The RC2 DH fork is a pretty good air fork though, and I appreciate the weight savings as well.

Just got my 2010 5 Spot back from warranty repairs -- small cracks in the upper taco weld. The guys at Turner did a fantastic job -- a full restore. New everything, and my requested fabulous orange and blue paint job, our SoCal HS MTB league colors. I had a new fork and wheels waiting for it when it finally came back, and have been pounding the trails ever since, in the Sierras and the San Gabriel mts. I like the Rev 150 XX fork -- lowers nicely for the long long climbs we have here, and it adjusts easily from hard to plush. Maybe too a bit too linear in the plush mode for some of the more techy bits, though.

    Loving it!!!

First shot was taken on the Middle Sam Merrill trail, looking down into a foggy LA Basin, with the Mt. Lowe trail below. Second was taken in Rock Creek Canyon, rolling into Paradise CA.

Sunset and El Prieto -- absolutely. I have serious sweat equity on El Pee, working with the Friends Of, Banner in particular.

Thanks for the good words -- so glad to have this bike back. Spent time on my rigid and other bikes while it was away, it's good to have the comparison, but better to be on the best of them.

Nice. Love all the Pics of the 5-Spot! I wonder when someone will buy a Burner rear end and stick it on the Spot. I know Turner is against it but I bet it works. Not ideal but I bet it will work.
