New question here. 5 spot and new small cage SLX front derailleur

    Hello to all,
As any one have experience using Shimano SLX front derailleur M665 Or M667
this are short cage derailleur. im thinking of get one for my (HL 5 spot and push rockers) in order to lower the front derailleur as close to mid 32T chain wheel & still achieve the right clearance between front derailleur and rear trangle, in case of full shox compression,

    there to type
M665 SLX Front Derailleur Top Swing:

    M667 SLX Front Derailleur Conventional:

who is the one best for the spot?
i prefer if possible using the M665 as it look better and lighter.

    thanks for the advice!

You're going to need the M667 bottom swing version. The M665 will not work because you cannot clamp it low enough on the seat tube.

do you think that change from my Front XT to the new SLX is "worthy", in order to reduce chain from falling?

You're not supposed to lower the front derailleur just because you don't have a big ring.

Is alot shorter so unlike a Xt FD you dont have to run it high above the chainrings if your running a 2 x 9 set up to keep it from making contact with the swingarm.

Only issue i had on my RFX is that you can clamp it too low or else it will contact the lower pivot on the small chainring.

put on the stinger you were talking about if you don't want to drop your chain. the slxhelps with setup on a dual ring over a standard front derailler. they're pretty cheap at crc so it's easy to justify throwing the slx on

I am running one on my Mojo. Technically it seems to be designed to be run with the Shimano SLX 36-22T plus bashguard crankset as a complete system. According to the instructions you align the cage with the edge of the Shimano bashguard similar to how you align a standard derailleur with the big ring. I am running mine with a 32T ring and a smaller than Shimano bashguard and so far it works fine and I just eyeballed the alignment.

    Should. Work. Fine.

You want the 667, as 2tne pointed out. Should work with most any double. Stinger optional (probably not needed on the spot).
