    5-spot essential sizes

I wish to build a 5-spot. What are its essential sizes such as BB length, seatpost diameter, seatpost clamp, headtube size (Any others I missed).

    Thanks !!

    5 Spot Specs

Edit: Sorry, I figured this page would have the info you need and it doesn't, other than the HT size. The only one I can give you is the seatpost size and that's 27.2 x 410. Perform a search for the others seeing as how this has been discussed before. Good luck.

Ok I now have the seat tube and head tube sizes. We are now missing seat clamp size (I guess it is 32.0) and the BB size.

    Help anyone !

BB: 73mm shell, 113mm spindle (for '03 XT, for instance)
    Seatpost: 27.2mm
Seat collar: 32.0mm (it comes with one, but if you want a Salsa QR instead)
F derailleur : 34.9mm, top pull, bottom swing
    Headset: 1 1/8"

    Thanks a lot.

    Two more questions.

What is the maximum tire size (the back as the front will depend on the fork), and what is the maximum size rotor (back again) that the frame can handle.

The chainstay yoke is 3 1/16" at its widest point. The seat stay bridge is even wider. I have some "true" 2.5s mounted right now (they measure exactly 2.5" outer knob to outer knob). A wider tire would fit (say, a "true" 2.6 or 2.7), but you would have to run a wider bb spindle otherwise the chain will rub on the tire's side knobs in the lowest gears. The frame also clears very tall tires like Geax Sturdy 2.25s.

I think you can run an 8" (203mm) rotor in the back. I have no idea why you would want one that big though, unless you run really weak brakes.

I'm in So. Cal. mostly dry, rocky, and loose. Does the height of the tire feel any different in the handling dept. Thanks, rich
