I've been super patient waiting for mine but am getting ready to get it already. Funny how September is turning into December Should be fun, I've been off a bike for a few months now, too much moto, if there's such a thing
Hey guys, how do you like your 2011 spot with the 160mm fork? I was ready to buy a 2010 spot with a 160mm fork but now that the HTA is slacker than before I was wonderin if a 150mm would be a better choice...
How does the 160mm fork affect the abibility to climb???
Nice bike by the way!
Small frames dont have the extra gusset across the seat and top tube. Instead they are one piece and curve up. It kinda reminds me of a Santa Cruz Juliana. I need a small too and prefer the gusset vs. Juliana look. But its still a Spot nonetheless.
Hi Jack
Very nice bike ! Amazing jump!
Just two questions : What is you height please?
I would like to order one 5 spot (I just sold my 575 09) and I hestitate between Small and Medium
I am 5' 7" and my inseam is 33".
I don't want to make a mistake.
What is exactly the headset you use ? Because and the Cane Creek web site I did not find any 44 mm model (for tapered steerer tube or not)
My futur build will be very similar than you but with a reverb seat post and probably grey ano color.
Yep, she replaced the green frame with the 2011. Moved most of the parts over, but swapped the Lyrik for a Revelation which shaved a good amount of weight. She's a big fan of the new geometry.
The top headset is Cane Creek ZS3. Speedgoat lists the specs for the zero-stack 44mm inner diameter, and this is the exact model for the top: http://www.speedgoat.com/Catalog.aspx/Browse?Cat=C247&Prod=20744 There are many ZS models to choose from, including the Cane Creek 110 ZS.
The bottom headset is the tricky one for running a tapered steertube fork. It's a Cane Creek XX. Speedgoat does a good job of explaining the specs for a 44mm cup to fit a 1.5" steertube and this is the exact model I got: http://www.speedgoat.com/Catalog.aspx/Browse?Cat=C248&Prod=20754
Note, the Cane Creek XX-II is for a 1.5" headtube and will not fit the 44mm 5Spot. The XX-IIc is the headset meant to be used when running a 1-1/8 steertube fork in a 1.5" headtube. So avoid these variants and get the XX listed above. Supposedly soon, Cane Creek will release their 110 model lower headset to fit a 44mm headtube with a 1.5" steertube, but I don't know when or what the model name will be. I couldn't figure this stuff out from Cane Creek's web site either!
The jump is actually very easy. The gap isn't too big and it only drops maybe 3 feet to a nice tranny and feels smoother than a lot of trail riding I do.
