    140mm on DW Sultan

I'd like to move up from my 120 Fox F29, for the travel and a bit more BB clearance and less steep HTA. So I'm curious about if it can be done, and how it's gone. Hoping sea otter brings Rock Shox into the 140mm 29er game, or fox...

So...Who's running one, which brand, and how do you like it?

    Aqua

Aquaholic has been riding a Marz on the front of a Sultan for months. loves it and the performance of the Marzocchi has been great in his experience. He has not thrown a anglefinder on it, but he likes it just fine.

No 36 or Lyric 29r in the pipes from my sources. I thought we already covered the sub 5% of 120mm 29r sales from both companies. Hard for a fork Co product manager to 'sell' the bosses on spending big on a % of the market you can count on one hand. I was in contact with one of them less than 10 days ago after an offshore customer swore his distributor took his order for a 140 and promised it this summer. I checked. No big 29 forks on the schedule. Marzocchi and WB are the choices at this time.

Any warranty issues to running a 140mm on the DW Sultan? If its fine, I might pull the trigger this week.

Edit: Also... I'm wondering if there's more likelihood of a 140ish Pike than a full on lyric or 36 sized fork? One of the Taiwan bike expo displays from RS looked like that might be the case. But I'll take your word for it and move forward with the Marz in the near future if its all good.

My crazy thinking is that it does not say 26 or 29 but the good people at SRAM wanted the general public to see the new fork.
Then they will surprise us at Sea Ottor with it being on the new tapered steerer Sultans and new Trace 29er.
They did not want to let the cat out of the bag before sea otter.
Just my crazy mind at play.
More Hope and Change I guess. Probably be another Hope and Change let down.

Siko is hoping there is a tapered sultan. He's jealous I have one and is hoping the 2011 has a taper so his will be better than mine. Ignore him...

I just saw a pre-production 29er (non-Turner) with a tapered 140 Reba. It will be coming as a 2011 bike in the middle of 2010. I cannot comment on the brand quite yet, but I wouldn't be suprised if you see some Sea Otter coverage on this...

Now we just need a tapered Sultan. =)

2011 Specialized SJ FSR? The 120mm on it is not enough.

Norco Shinobi is a new 29er with 140mm travel. Tapered steerer. Haven't seen pictures on the web yet.

What we need is a 140 Sultan to mate with the tapered Reba 140... any chance of this???

That has to be the next improvement on the sultan. That is really all it needs. Well the Maxle rear would also be nice. Maybe 142 or 150 spacing options also.

So after talking to the kind folks at Turner I'm thinking the Marz 140mm is the way to go, however I don't want to buy the thing and find out a month later RS is making the Reba 140 in a standard 1 1/8''th... anyone know RockShox well enough to get a bead on whether they're only doing the 140 in Tapered or if they'll think of us plebes?

Too bad Fox isn't coming out with a longer travel TALAS.
A 140mm-110mm would be friggin sweet. Having only one option (120mm-95mm) is very limiting.
Very cool though that RS is pushing forwards.

DT, I got in touch with Aquaholic after your email in April (just before Sea Otter)...and decided to import a Marzocchi 140mm fork. It seems that the UK distributors we discussed came back with contradicting information(!?). There are no 120mm - maxle (Fox or RockShox) 29er forks in the UK either...the market appears to be very limited here. Not sure how that is reflected in your sales of Sultan's in the UK...but you might want to have a word with those Product Managers! Rgds, MADAV13 (MarkD)
