'04 Spot and RP3 rear shock

Just picked up a a HL 5 spot and looking at pictures I see sometimes the RP3 rear shock mounted upside down and sometimes right side up. I there a difference in the frame that won't allow it to be mounted right side up? It is hard to reach the PP with it upside down.
Still learning how to keep the rubber side down.

The air valve for the shock may be block by the rockers, that's why you see it upside down. If you don't want to run it upside down, you can get one of these:

2012 FOX Gonzo Air Valve - Competitive Cyclist

S-Works, bought the Gonzo Air Valve and it didn't work, still not enough room with the rockers, guess I am going to have to live with it....
