I have a 2011 Trek Top Fuel 9.9ssl mountain bike with a Race XXX Lite seatpost that keeps slipping. When I got the bike, the post was too long and would not allow me to lower it to achieve the seat height I wanted (bottom of post would impact being in frame sea tube bend), so I arranged for my bike dealer to cut the seat post a small amount. After the cut, the seatpost still has 100mm of length inside the frame seat tube. I have tightened the Bontrager seat clamp to 5.5lbs (recommended limit). After normal cross country type riding, the seat post keeps slipping into the frame. I would greatly appreciate some help on how to fix this. Should I be using some carbon non-slip paste?
Seatpost diameter is 34mm, seat post clamp has a 39 stamped on it.
I would greatly appreciate suggestions.
