Trek TopFuel seat post keeps slipping

I have a 2011 Trek Top Fuel 9.9ssl mountain bike with a Race XXX Lite seatpost that keeps slipping. When I got the bike, the post was too long and would not allow me to lower it to achieve the seat height I wanted (bottom of post would impact being in frame sea tube bend), so I arranged for my bike dealer to cut the seat post a small amount. After the cut, the seatpost still has 100mm of length inside the frame seat tube. I have tightened the Bontrager seat clamp to 5.5lbs (recommended limit). After normal cross country type riding, the seat post keeps slipping into the frame. I would greatly appreciate some help on how to fix this. Should I be using some carbon non-slip paste?

Seatpost diameter is 34mm, seat post clamp has a 39 stamped on it.

    I would greatly appreciate suggestions.

Correction, seat post collar tightening torque is 5.5Nm, not lbs as originally stated.

It will not hurt anything to try Finishline carbon grip in your seat tube. Your lbs should have it around and install it for you.

Thank-you. Thats what I did and it has worked. I tested it on a 2 hour trail ride and then a 50km race and there was no slippage. I was also advised separately to also try a seat post collar like a Salsa or Thompson, but the carbon grip has worked to I have kept the Bontrager collar on.

Great to hear. If you have any further issues, spring for the Salsa Liplock clamp. They just work. Enjoy your ride.
