    Trek Slash Carbon

This makes perfect sense. If they can justify a consumer model of the DH Session in a Carbon Version then it would make sense that a bike like the Slash in a Carbon would easily cost justify the production investments.

I figured that starting a post to keep tabs on any rumors would be a good thing. Have a 2008 Remedy 9 custom spec'd that is a little too close to the Slash. A carbon version would definitely get me motivated to convince the wife for some new wheels!

The "Way of the Warrior" can always use some extra ammo when is comes to the "Way of the Wife"...!!!!!

I'm certain that if the Slash model has strong enough sales throughout 2012 then we'll see a carbon model come out.

This year is basically seeing what the market wants. If they sell well, and sell a large enough number of the Slash 9's, we will see a Slash 9.8 and 9.9 in the next couple years.

They start shipping in September supposedly, see vitalmtb for more details. I would realistically expect the first ones to arrive in October or November with early pre-orders. Slash 9.9 has the new XTR drivetrain and Fox 36, so it'll be interesting to see if Shimano/Fox are back out ahead of SRAM/RockShox....or if people with the 9.9 trade their 36s for pikes. I'm sure they'd have them money to do so! I imagine pricing for the 9.9 will be around $9000.
