Thinking about ordering a 9.8, looks pretty sweet
Only change is my wide rimed carbon wheel set, some 780 bars if the put narrow ones on and my seat
Once you go slack, you never go back!

My 9.8 should also ship Sept. 8th. Really excited.

Going to be moving most of my build kit over from my 2013 Slash since I have XO1 and King Hubs already. Going to lace them to a set of spank oozy trail rims, swap the seat, and do a few other things to tone down the green. Ditching the XT brakes day one and moving my XO trails over. Not sure which length seat post the new one comes with, but after 4 warranty posts I now have a 150mm reverb stealth that I want to keep forever. So that's coming, too. I'll probably keep the stock bars/stem for a month or two until I get a feel for it. It would be nice if the bike came with some 780's, but I'm guessing that it's spec'd with 750's.

Really wish Trek would start doing frame-only sales again on the mountain bikes.

Tone down the green!?? I love the green! Haha!

I think there should be more green in fact.. the evo link, grips, and pedals to start.

To each their own. Beautiful bike nonetheless. Congrats!

Not since graduation in 2004. I now live outside of Seattle. So it's been to Tiger Mountain, a few other spots, and will travel to Whistler.

How much worse does this bike climb compared to fuel and remedy? Leaning towards slash but end up at an xc trail out here that does have a few nice decents. I want something I can take up north so leaning towards the slash

I ended up with 18.5 slash 7 2014. upgraded to Renthal carbon lite fathers, do troy lee grips, xpedo pedals, mrp guide and bottle opener, race face turbine cinch 32t 1x10 set up, one up 42t, xt brakes. Love this bike and climbs like a champ.

yeah... i need an MRP guide on my bike... drops chains like a *****.
i won't be going 1X10 just yet. going to wait until i get up enough money to buy a nice RF crank, better trigger shifters, probably X01, a better RD, probably X1 or X01, and a 11 speed cassette. and an MRP guide haha.

Your dropping chains? Something has to be up with your bike. Only time I dropped a chain on mine was from a crash. I went 1x10 since its much cheaper and didn't need the extra gear. I have mine 11-42 (removed 15 and 17 cog and replaced with a 16). Cranks, 32t, guide, and bb ran me 400. I did the guide as piece of mind

nope, i can drop a chain like nothing. its just what i ride. rock gardens and gnarly rapid hits. i know when section where i can't pedal otherwise the chain will drop and my crank will seize up because the train slips between the ring and ISCG mount.

Just demoed the 9.8 on my local trails today. The issue climbing with the slash is that the debonair doesn't have enough of a platform to overcome the ABP rear suspension design so the bike bobs like crazy and sucks up your energy. The Remedy and the Fuel have the CTD shock with the Reactiv tune, which does a much better job at keeping things efficient and closer to the feel of a DW link or VPP bike. Compared to Enduro bikes like the new Nomad and the Mach 6, the Slash isn't in the same climbing universe unfortunately but I actually prefer it as a descender over those two. I would only want the Slash as a shuttle/bike park bike. Just my two cents.

I went wih a slash (pics above), but I have a fox ctd. I got a great deal on it since it was 2014 and last one left in west. It climbs very well

are you ever going to be racing uphill? if no, get the slash. take your time if it sucks up your energy, become better because of it, but i find its downhill capabilities make it much more enjoyable.

Have a slash and LOVING it.
