    Trek Scratch Air 8

Just got this a week ago, only have 3 rides on it. I have to say Trek has really got there act together. No problems earning my ride and way more confidence blazing down.

I Paid $5200 Canadian. And just ordered a Gamut Dual Ring chain guide and Bash. I don't know why this bike has a triple, the chain slaps like crazy and i never use the big ring. I will post pics when i install the Guide.

Sexy bike! I'm wondering if you have the weight for your ride? And have you ridden the coil 9 at all to compare it? I'm thinking about picking up a scratch soon and i'm trying to measure the difference between the air 8 and coil9.

    Cheers,
and grats on the new ride

My air 8 is 15.4 kg. A friend has the coil 9 and it weights 17kg, but he replaced the OEM fork with the Totem and putted the Minion tires on that are 400g heavier than the OEM tires each.

I have not ridden the Scratch coil 9. From what i have heard from many riders is that the new air shocks are getting very close to there coil brothers in performance. I felt if the performance is similar why not save 1 grand cash and a few pounds. Would be cool to hear from somebody who has actually ridden both.

I must say that when i was first checking out the Trek Scratch, the photos of the 9 looked the hottest. But once i saw the other models in person the whole line up is dam sexy! And with the coil versions you don't have to screw around and install a chain guide and bash.

It seems like coil snobs think the DHX air is junk.It would be nice to compair coil vs air.
