    Trek Fuel EX 9.8 -> 2013/26"/130mm or 2015/27.5"/120mm

    2013:

    I still don't get the hype with 650b's yet. Although they promise the fun factor of riding, I stick with 26" as I don't need climb faster nor descent over obstacles with ease...

    Which one would you pick?

    Thanks

    Wheel size aside, I'd go with the 15 for the fancy reactive valving in the rear shock. A very noticeably improvement.

    This.

    I've ridden both Re:aktiv and non DRCV shocks, and the new Re:aktiv ones are so far above the old ones that there's not even a comparison. You can ride "wide-open" on a supple air-pressure and still pedal like a demon.

    Granted, the climb setting is almost TOO stiff and I never use it except on roads.

    Maybe the shock I could have been upgraded for 2013 FuelEX? Than travel will be 120mm and geo will be affected...

    Unless you can find a match for the 2013 shock in terms of length and shock travel, I wouldn't mess with it.

    I like the 27.5" a lot. Give it a try.

    Should have mentioned that in the first post! Heh.

    The 2015 is better. Is it double the price better? That's not for me to decide. Go ride both. If the 2013 is used, see if you can take it for a trail ride and see what you think.

    Have fun!
