So I just bought myself a 2013 Trek Mamba yesterday and went out for my first ride in... 15 years. Wow, why did I ever stop? Perfect weather today and a great first ride. Glad to have found these forums and looking forward to another ride tomorrow!

Well, I've only taken the one pic (it's pretty much a terrible one, too) and I don't have the prerequisite number of posts to be able to posts pics or links so it will just have to wait. But here's a description: I went with the grey and black matte and it's beautiful (to me)!

    hey dudes!
    Loving my 2012 Cobia.
Been riding some trails around here in Springfield, IL. Lots of fun!
So far I have upgraded to a Serfas Rx921 saddle. Works just fine.
I wear crappy worn out New Balance shoes. I would like to get some shoes just for biking.
    Any ideas?
Also, I'd like to replace the pedals so I can get some really good grip. Will shoes alone be good enough, or should I upgrade the pedals?

Bike looks great in this pic. The pic on the website makes it look a little funky, but I like the look. How do you like it so far? Really lookin at one of these and trying to decide between this and an Anthem X 29er 1.

My 2013 Superfly AL Elite. Brilliant bike. Pics were taken soon after initial construction, reflectors were removed, also changed the stems angle new conti inner tubes (as stocks had non removable cores so i couldnt add sealant), bike pump added to seat tube mount, etc.
Waiting on Maxxis Ikon 2.2's for the front and an Aspen 2.1 for the rear to come in, but starting to love the Bontrager 29-1's that came with the bike. Great tyre for out here.

Here is my 2013 Mamba I picked up a couple days ago. Pictures were taken within hours of picking it up. Better ones and pictures of the girlfriend's 2013 Marlin are to come.

I absolutely love it. It's an awesome ride... It just wants to go fast! Feels really solid and handles like a dream especially for being a 29er. Climbs like a champ in ascend mode too.

Here's my 2013 Marlin 29er. Upgrades so far: RockShox Reba RL fork, Renthal Fatbar, ODI grips, Avid BB7 180mm front and rear. Shimano Saint peddals. Plan on going tubless so I'll have to upgrade my rims, also going full SLX 2/10 in the near future.

    2012 Marlin
I changed just about everything minus the frame and seat post. I planned to keep it stock for the summer, but that only lasted a couple of days. New parts include:
    Fox F29 RLC G2
    Velocity Blunt wheelset
    SLX crank and derailleur 1x9
    Juicy Ultimate brakes
    and everything else

Here is my 2012 Trek Mamba. So far mostly stock other than some Shimano SPD pedals, Salsa skewers and ergo grips. Trying to decide if I want to upgrade the fork (Rockshox Reba RL), wheels (Mavic Corssmax or Stans Arch EX) and the deraillures (Shimano XT crank, front and rear).

Sp far loving it, but the allure of a FS (Trek Superfly, Giant Anthem X 29 or Specialized Epic) is becoming harder to fight each day.

Here it is as of tonight...

Does anyone know what clamp size I need to replace my front derailleur on my 2012 Trek Mamba? is it 31.8 or 34.9mm? I am assuming currently its a top swing than a bottom swing am i correct?

any difference of bottom or top swing? or are they both compatible. I am looking at Shimano SLX M661 Conventional 9sp Front Mech | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com or spend a few dollars more for Shimano XT M770 Top Swing 9sp Front Mech | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com. Also 31.8mm/34.9mm, does that mean it fits both? sorry im a noob at this.

    Almost Love it

Hi Everyone - Just bought a Trek Cobia 2013 and (almost) love it!

My only issue is the 'bike nuts' on rear fork part of the frame. I have had a look at many pictures on-line and at the one in the store and NONE of them have the bike nuts in this position. Unfortunatly it is scratching my legs at times when i ride.

Does anyone else have this on there frame? Can any one from Trek explain this?

    Thanks in Advance!

I've got them on an old 4 Series Trek. They're for a rear rack or whatever accessory you might want to mount. Hard to believe they scratch your legs though. All I see is potential, looks great. A good pair of shoes and pedals is all you need to unlock the potential of that beaut. Best of luck with it!

Hi Wardy - thanks for the reply. Its a bad habit i have of standing up a bit when 'rolling' (legs back and front for balance and to give a leg a break). A habit to break I guess.

I get why they are there, so yeh there is some potential to add to the the bike (I do have a 18 month yr old so it may come in handy.)

I guess my question is more as to WHY mine has it but no others (at the same shop i got it from, on-line everywhere). Just want to make sure i got the right model etc.

Never seen a Cobia with those! That's rare. You could easily put in a lower profile bolt or a flush fitting threaded cap so it wont contact you as much/often.

Krigloch-that looks like a women's saddle judging by the shape.

Just picked up a 2012 Trek Cobia last week. So far I added Black-Ops Nylo-Pro Pedals, Serfas Saddle, and The Sensus Swayze grips. I've only taken it on one ride, but I loved it. Can't wait for more...too bad it is getting so cold up here in WI.

After riding my friends Manitou fork and buying one for my fiancée I had to have one.

The offset is not G2 we know that. I was scared it would be too twitchy, maybe unstable at speed. So to counteract that, and try something new, I did a 120mm travel fork on the Mamba. With a lot of research and talking to helpful members; I decided to try it.

Install was done last night. Haven't gone to the trail yet but riding around it feels awesome. Dropped 1.1lbs. Removed 1/2" of steer tube and put a small spacer above the stem to keep the factory stem/bar height. Looking forward to tuning in this fork.

I'd like to hear how the new fork works out for you. I want to eventually swap out the fork on my Cobia and have been kicking around moving up to 120mm.

    Alberto,
Which Manitou 120mm fork did you put on there? I have a 2013 Mamba and am interested in your experience with the Cobia fork upgrade.
