Last week I picked up a 2012 Mamba on closeout at my LBS. The only upgrade so far is Shimano PD-M785 pedals.

Just got a 2013 Mamba and love it but my brakes seem to feel soft like the lever goes all the way to the grips is the normal?

It's not suppose to do that. Take it back into the bike shop and they should fix it for you.

They need to bleed those brakes and then adjust them. They should never have given the bike to you like that, I would be suspect of everything they do from now on. If you do one thing right it should be a new bike delivery.

I'm curious why they switched to Hayes brakes on the '13 Mambas. My '12 has Shimanos.

    Another Cobia? YES!

Got my Cobia a couple of months ago, and love it! My first 29er, and I'm hooked! Made some changes...
New Bontrager saddle, (Got rid of that awful white saddle)..
Ditched the reflectors, and the rim decals,
    New grips,
Wireless Cateye computer,(just turned over my first 100 miles on it!)
    TruVativ riser bars,
    Easton stem,
    new spacers
    Clipless pedals.
(Put an old school Recon decal on the fork leg to mix things up!)

my 2012 mamba is barely a month old and i had the same question as well as i saw the 2013 mambas displayed at my LBS... the staff said the 2012 is better than the 2013 and this made me wonder if they were just saying this so i would not exchange my 2012 for the 2013?

anyways all the pictures has made me drool! cant wait to go see my LBS tomorrow!

well, not get upgrades but to have my stock pedals looked at (wink wink) they're CRAP. the reflectors came off first then the screws started to loosen up.

ill see if i can get credits for the pedals and get a better one...

cant wait to post my mamba's pictures too... ive only upgraded the saddle as the stock one is just literally a PITA..... its now SELLE ITALIA.

    Hi all,
Great looking bikes, everyone! I recently got a Trek Marlin WSD (17.5"). I don't think I have enough posts to post a picture yet, though. Quick question--has anyone weighed their 17.5'' Wahoo, Marlin, Cobia etc. frame alone? I would like to get an idea of what the frame weighs, just as a point of reference. Thanks!

hi your wheel is measured in metric and is a 700 cm by 35 cm tire.. While it is close to the inch size 29 x 1 1/2 inch they are not really interchangeable.

My 12 Marlin. I added DMR v8 pedals in acid green and a fox fork from a 2011 Trek Rig. Lucked out finding that fork on ebay.

My first "real" mtn bike, 2013 Trek Marlin 29er, bought it in July and so far am pleased with it. Hoping it will let me get a good foundation into mtn biking out here in Colorado and then hopefully can look to upgrade in a year or two, or build it up if that ends up being the way to go.

The blue looks nice in real world photos! Only place I'd seen it was on the Trek site. I almost got my LBS to get me a '13 but wasn't sure if I'd like the blue.

i also wasn't too sure of the blue, was leaning towards the 2012 green, but my wife went out & surprised me with the 2013 true blue. it really does look ALOT better in person than on the trek site.

Thanks! Yeah i was prepared to get the green 2012 model which i really liked, but when i saw the 2013 in stock in blue it caught my eye immediately, really digging the color combo. Also like that the main logos are on the top and bottom of the tube instead of on the sides, definitely different.

I still don't get all the 29'er hating though.....I saw a sticker at a local trail with "29'er" circled and a line through it....a bike is a bike to me.
    I think it's called jealousy.

That's a very nice ride. How do you think the Mamba would ride on the street with thinner street slicks and the fork lockout? It seems like it would be a stronger built hybrid like the DualSport 8.2 - 8.6.

I am looking for a new wheelset for my Mamba. Any recommendations? So far I am looking at the Stans Arch EX 29er and Spinergy Xyclone 29er. Also any recommendations on a all around tire? Let me know.
