    Replacement Derailleur Hangers

Not sure this is the right location for my question but here it goes.. I just came across a free 2004 trek 4300 disk but there is a slight catch. It came without a rear derailleur hanger and I was wondering if there was a good location where I could find one. So far, my search has been troublesome as I assume it tends to be when you are looking for a derailleur hanger for a ten year old bike frame. Any nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated! Thanks

Damn. I saw that site and a few like it but they don't seem to have one for the model. Am I SOL or blind?

It looks more like the hanger #6 but its hard to be certain. It only has two holes (one for the derailleur and one to bolt into the frame)

The web site scar mentions is the one to go to. However, I would guess that hanger #6 is the likely derailleur hanger. The web site lists 6 as the appropriate replacement hanger for the 2003 - 2005 Trek 4100, which is essentially the same frame as the 4300. The #144 hanger would be for the 2010-12 4300.

desertred - thanks for the rescue, I know nothing about Trek's just wasn't sure if the OP knew about those sites. Post up a picture and I am sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Just doing some bike maintenance, drinking a few brews, surfing MTBR before a night time urban assault and thought I might be of some help

Thanks, guys. I do appreciate it. I think it might be worth it to role the dice and pull the trigger on #6. Worst case is that i have to pay for shipping costs both ways for the return. What I have to gain is another bike in my fleet!
