Hey guys, quick question... Has anybody installed a RockShox Reverb on their Fuel? Any words of wisdom of 380mm vs 420mm, mounting or etc?

Love my fuel EX8. Anyone know the weight difference between the EX 8 and EX 9.9 frames only? I was thinking about maybe getting the 2013 EX 9.9 frame for the geometry and travel.

    What year is your EX8?

Are you changing to a new year model or just wondering the difference between the 8 & 9.9? If you are wondering about travel & geometry, there shouldn't be a difference. Weight and stiffness is the advantage. Are you looking to ride competitively? Then 9.9 because of all of the advantages including components and suspension, yes the weight is an advantage but all the others reasons outweigh the weight.

@cutbert. Mine is a 2012. so i would gain the extra .5 degree in head angle and 10mm of travel i think (2012 has 68.5 and 120mm, 2013 has 68 and 130mm). i was thinking of getting the frame and switching it all over. I also was thinking of just getting a new wheelset. I have the stock dusters with tubeless. I had some free money and am not sure where I want to go. No I dont race just love riding.

for sure go with 142x12 rear maxle upgrade if you get a new wheelset.
huge difference imho. especially if you like it rough and technical

So you are saying you upgraded to everything from 2013 model? Was it to get to the extra 10mm of suspension travel?
Was that only the R23 or all the linkage as well?

So far, so good. It's plenty of gearing and is dead quiet. The lack of any sound whatsoever from the drivetrain is something that I think the myriad reviews out there haven't spoken enough of yet. It's really that quiet.

I was thinking of replacing my 2011 Ex7 shock (Fox Float RP-2, 120mm travel) with the new kashima CTD shock. Possible? Where to get mounting kits? Any advise?

Here's my '12 EX7. Full XT 2x10 drivetrain, '12 Mavic Crossmax ST w/Bontrager XR2 TLR, which I don't like, I'm a newbie and didn't know what people meant when talking about tire's rolling resistance…till I got these! Only 'cause they were on closeout(now I know why!) on the Bontrager site. My best newbie description would be that they make the bike feel slow and heavy. But I do love the bike!
