... and if we just ... Ordered My EX 8

Today I ordered my EX 8, $2199 CDN before taxes. The dealer figures I'll have it in 2 weeks as it's coming from a warehouse in NJ then over to Waterloo then up to Canada.

The fork is a FLOAT RL & the shock is a Fox RP2. No colour choice this year.

That is awesome to hear . I've been waiting to see what the pricing was going to be like on the 08's. I thought I'd heard some rumours that they would be more expensive than last year. I've heard $2600 CDN for the EX8 .

Is this a bike shop you've done a fair bit of business with or was that "MSRP"?

I bought a Trek SU200 from them last year & they've done some work on my Raleigh. No other bike purchases from them.

Called my local bike shop today and they just got the new EX in. Gonna have to go check it out one of these days. Only have a medium so far and it's the black color scheme.

My shop had a black medium also. Holy crap its a nice looking bike. The tubing on the front triangle is very nice with the hydroforming, akin to the Spec enduro SL. The head tube looks very well reinforced and the linkage seems very solid.

The only part of the frame that I wasn't 100% confident about was the end of the seat stay just above the pivot, but its probably fine considering that the pivots about the rear axle are very beefy to hopefully eliminate flex. Being a clyde i tend to look for things like that.

If they get a 19 inch or bigger frame as a demo i'll give a ride report some weekend

I'm a clyde as well (6'3", 230) but I'm still going to take that medium out for a spin to see how the suspension feels.

When I talked to them on the phone (they know me and my size from buying my last bike and parts there), they said they'd get me out on it just to get a feeling for the suspension.

I'm planning that tomorrow night so I'll probably post a report as well.

the new fuels are amazing i just cheched one out in my lbs. but one thing the rear lower arms how each side is different and tied together with the bar this is verry similar to yeti rear triangles. not knocking anything but trek has a nice pivot design seems like the bars are too similar to yeti. srry for the cave man bike termanology but anyone else notice the yeti resemblence

Damn I envy you guys who managed to see the new Fuels, too bad my country doesnt get updated with the latest bike, the only way for me to see the new Fuels is by ordering it or by driving all the way to Singapore.

Stopped by the other day to see the new EX8. Looks awesome. They did have the medium (17.5") built up but it was raining so I didn't want to get their floor model all dirty.

Anyway, they said they also had a 19.5" that they could build up for me to test out so I'm going back tomorrow.

I was just wondering if anyone else from Canada has seen these and what the price has been at their local shop. Seems that here, they are going for around $2600 but revrnd indicated he got his for $2199 Cdn.

That's the price I paid as well. I was going to edit my post, but I couldn't. It was $2962 CDN out the door.

    Sorry if I mislead anyone

I paid $1950 for my 07 EX8 last October.I saw a 08 EX7 at the Trek Store in Gahanna Ohio for $1900.So the prices are definitely higher on the newer EX's.

Most bike prices seems to raise up for 2008, but its okay since they are a lot of changes for most companies on their 08 bike models

Here's a pic of me from today from the wilds of southern Ontario. It's not the greatest as I was using the self timer & no way to focus w/o being in the actual shot.

I might not be the best person to ask. Coming off a '04 Raleigh, any bike design would be an improvement.

Picked up my new EX8 on the weekend and had a chance to ride it a bit. I don't have much experience with full suspension designs but the bike certainly seems to do what they say it is supposed to.

I took it down a couple patches that are really rooty or have a lot of little rocks (washboard type terrain) and hit the brakes and it didn't skip or bounce at all. Stayed very hooked up with the ground.

The suspension also feels great. It feels quite bottomless to me. Didn't hit any huge drops or anything but did some smaller ones and some big bunny hops and it felt great.

I tried riding a bit with the suspension set up on the soft side in an attempt to amplify any pedal induced bob. I'm not sure if that is logical but it seemed to me, if the suspension is softer, you'd feel it more. Even with the rear shock set at about 30-35% sag (they recommend 20%), I didn't feel any bob in the rear until I got out of the seat and started hammering away.

I'm very happy with this bike so far. The first ride was a fairly short one and then the rain came for the rest of the weekend. Hoping to get out again tomorrow night to give it a real test.

I'll post some pics if someone can explain how. I tried one other time on a different topic but didn't seem to have any luck.

Just did some searches for posting photos and found some info. I'll try again when I get home.

Also forgot to mention about the bike...
There is some serious hydro-forming on that frame.

For Mass Manufacturing bikes, I consider 08 GT bikes are heavily hydroformed and also the new 08 Giant Trance, Trance X and Reign. Well its kinda logical that a higher pressure shock will reduce pedal bobbing because the shock is firmer. And it sounds that the reason why you dont feel any pedal bob when seated cycling is cause you have a good spinning technique, hence you dont feel it. Most full suspension bike will bob once you start standing up, unless you lockout the shock

I am one of the few others that actually likes the looks of the green. I cant wait to see it in person. I have always loved the Devinci Remix SL4... The green on that bike is just so hot.

I also thought the green was ugly until I saw it for myself. It looked better in person but I still wasn't a huge fan. Now that I've seen a few bikes with that color, it looks better and better. Maybe the color guys at Trek know what they're doing after all...

Anyone who looks below this post will not that I own a bright green bike...
