New version XR4 tire actual width?

I'm tossing around the idea of getting a 26x2.35 new style XR4. I'm not sure when they started it, like '12 maybe? Anywho, I'm wondering if someone knows how wide the tire measures at its widest point on a 28mm rim? I have read that the 2.35 "runs wide for its size".

    Thanks,
    Frankie

It is a monster tire. Beautiful piece of rubber.

On my Fuel EX9, 26", Bontrager Race Lite wheels - I get a width, from end of knob to end of knob at 2.38" with a set of calipers!

Aren't RL wheels pretty narrow too, like 19mm? Or am I thinking of something else? What year is your EX9? Shouldn't it have Rhythms?
