I noticed this on one of ther Trek Factory Racing videos on youtube. I would assume if they are riding them we will see them after Trek World in August.

Those RXXXL hoops have been out, since 2009. It first appeared on the Trek 9.9 SSL 26er race bike. The 29er got it during the 2010 model year, with JHK riding it on the ill-fated, 2010 Gary Fisher SF100. From what I understand - the wheels still don't even get the DT Swiss hubs, making their sub-1600g wheelset weight claim questionable. The 29er hoops alone weigh 333g each, and is manufactured in Taiwan.

Bontrager has not sold and XXX 29er wheels for at least a year. The RXL's are the top one that you can buy right now and they are 1580g for the set. I am sure if/when they release the NEW XXX 29er wheels they will be much lighter.

The bar is here: Specialized Bicycle Components (21mm internal width, 1450g, $1500 street price)

    Let's hope they meet/exceed that

While I haven't been "waiting" on these, I've been holding on buying my carbon wheelset until I destroy the current Crests. That's going to be another 6 months or so Would love to see what Trek comes out with.

I just got a new pair of the xxx wheels and they are not carbon but weigh only 1380 grams. The engagement is very impressive and they are a lot stiffer than most wheels at the same low weight. The retail price is $1200 which brings them a lot less than any carbon set from the big wheel names and at a lower weight than most carbon wheel sets.
