Looking to purchase a trek 6000 series frame only

Anyone know where I could pick one of these up? I currently own a 2004 Trek 8500 with upgraded disc brakes, but I really like the geometry on the new bikes. I've been to the local bike shop many times trying to work out a deal for just a frame but they want me to buy the whole bike.

trek unfortunately does not sell the Aluminum frames. A guy I work with at my shop wanted one and the only way to get one was through the warranty department.

Also, if you were able to find a 6000 frame, it wouldn't be much cheaper than the whole 6000 bike. My shops sells them for 599.

Why would you go from a 8500 to a 6700, the frame material is different isn't it? The 8500 is the ZR9000 aluminum and the 6700 is Alpha SLR Aluminum. Thats why you paid the big bucks for the 8500, the frame is much lighter.

I am assuming it is an older 8500 but even still I thought they were Alpha SLR Aluminum before the ZR9000 aluminum was used. At any rate I am a bit confused as well.
