OK, please don't chime in unless you have had either of these bikes for a while or you are my size and have researched these brands.
I am 6' 3" and 264lbs. and dropping. I have lost 33lbs. since Oct. 1st. Weight loss is starting to slow and it is time to get back on the Mtn. Bike. I used to have a 1988 Raleigh Heat. Loved it. Trek seems to be the bike these days.
I can purchase a Trek 3900 for $309.99 or a Raleigh M40 DX for $300 w/disk brakes.
I like a tall frame. The Trek dealer does not have a 22.5" frame for me to sit on. The 21" frame is fine but might like a little more longer treach to handlebars. Have not been on the M40 DX in the XL 22" size. Again, the other dealer does not have on built.
First, Trex or Raleigh?
Second, 21.5" or 22.5 Trex frame?
Third, 22" fram from Raleigh?
Here is the M40 DX; http://www.raleighusa.com/items.asp?...06&childid=401
Here is the 3900, http://www2.trekbikes.com/Bikes/Moun...3900/index.php
I will only be riding on streets or flat grassy trails.
