Help keep an old GF on the road!

My old Aquila has been replaced so I have decided to convert it to a commuter. The bike originally came with rigid forks, back in '97 when I bought it. Of course I have long since replaced those with Manitou shocks and ditched the original forks.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can find replacement rigid forks for the Aquila, or what size/specs I need. What are the best tires for a commuter?

I don't know about the fork but for a commuter I'd say get semi-slick tires of some kind. They will be a lot nicer on the pavement and still allow forays onto tame multi-use trails...after all, it is nicer to look at trees on you commute than cars
