    Have I stuffed the bars?

    Hi all

I have a Trek Top Fuel 110 with carbon Bontrager XXX lite flat bars.

According to Trek/Bontrager, the handlebars are compatible with barends, BUT when I tried to put them on tonight, I couldn't get the left one to stop moving. So being the di(khead that I am, I've over tightened and squashed the handlebars, but it appears that only the top coat of resin/lacquer has come off. Have I farked the handlebars?

PS I'm gonna leave the barends off.

    Dave V.

    Worthless reply

Might be okay, but I wouldn't use 'em.

I checked out Bonty's website, and they have a carbon fiber users guide. Here is the link to Bonty's overall part manual: http://www.bike-manual.com/om/bontra...bontrager.html In the index/contents listing on the left side, click on #3 - 'Maintenance', then click 'Carbon Fiber Composite Inspection Procedures' for your situation. I didn't read through it all, but it looks like some good info. Hope this helps!
