    Fuel EX 29er Size

Plan to order a Fuel EX 29" 9.0 this week. I am 5'9" and tested both a 17.5 and 18.5 and both felt fine. What kind of heights and sizes are people getting in the Fuel 29ers?

I'm just a little less than 5'9 and ride a 17.5. Never tried an 18.5 at all, but the 19" trek stuff is always too big and the 15.5" are always too small. I like the top tube length and the general fit and feel they've achieved with the new fuel in general.

    Fuel EX 29er Size

I compared the geo charts to my current crop of bikes and am more inclined to get the 17.5. The top tube if a bit too long, even for a Gensis bike, for me to be in the 18.5

I want about a 60 cm top tube effective. So that points towards the 17.5 with a 59.8 instead of the 18.5 with a 61.2.

To answer my own question, I tested both sizes again and am going for the 18.5.

Neither. It is the discreet size classification assigned by trek.

The whole virtual versus actual size of the seat tube applied more to the compact frame trend of the late 90's. I am not sure how it applies to a modern dual squishy frame. Are you asking if it really is 18.5" from the center of the bb to the seat cluster? If so there really is no seat cluster on the Fuel.

I just picked up a 18.5 and it feels short in the top tube..so i measured it and every thing matches the geometry chart except the top tube.. I get about 59.2cm where it should be 61.2cm.. its doing my head in.. I might have to swap the bike but this makes no sense
