New question here. EX-9 chainstay issues

Anyone had any issues with the drive-side chain stays? I know a guy whose ex-9 carbon stay broke. I'm not sure if it separated, or broke.

    Scratches

I started to get alot of scratches on the drive side chainstay nearest the crank where the carbon and metal meet, at first I thought it was from bottoming out going over logs and what not but now I'm convinced it's from chain slap. I warpped the area with a very thin road tube for a little cush and protection, so far so good.

I've also had chainslap issues along with some nasty chainsuck (mostly when the chain is wet/grimy) issues. I wrapped it with a heavy-duty chainstay wrap. Apparently the chainstay broke where it was bonded to the aluminum. The guy is not a hucker, so I don't think he was doing any outrageous drops/jumps.
