Equipment on 09 Trek 8000 worth it?

I have been quoted by a dealer $1799 for the 2009, 8000 series HT. for that price are the factory comments a good value?

    trek 8000

That's about retail or so for the 8000 isn't it? I think a firend of mine recently paid about $1400 for his 09 trek 8000. This is a great bike value with the xt components. You may be able to do a little better on price but don't dwell on just that, the LBS may work with you on accessories and tune-ups. If you like the bike go for it...

I paid just over $1500 for my 08. Given the economy you should be able to do better than 1799. I believe that is the MSRP. Offer $1600 and see what they say.

Trek 8000 not the ex8 ......not sure what the ex8 goes for but I would never pay retail for a bike.

Retail on the 09 8000 is $1979 btw, it's a little less than MSRP, not much. But I wasnt expecting them to just tell me how low they will go on it.

My brother has an '08 8000 and it's great! The XT crank is supreme and the XT rear is quite smooth. I've been urging him to upgrade to XT shifters. If this bike hat XT shifters it would really make it, but overall it's one solid bike. The Reba SL fork is super plush and the motion control really does it's job.

Considering most 08 EX8's are going for around 1899, you appear to be getting ripped off on that 8000!
