Been looking at cyclocross bikes for commuting/road/gravel riding. Would like steel, like the Kona Rove or Raleigh Roper but they seem at the far end of my price range. The CrossRip seems to firt what I am looking for besides the steel frame. Has fender/rack mounts and can take larger tires if I ant a "monster-cross" bike. I may cx race but only one local race and it would be for a personal challenge/fun only. Also some easier single track. I currently ride a rigid 29er ss but would prefer gears on this all around jack of all trade master of none bike. What do you think? suggestions? Thanks.

I say do it, my only suggestion is to consider the Elite version. I rode both, it's worth the extra money.

I would upgrade to the elite like stated. The base model is pretty lackluster as far as components.
