    Pinkbike Product Picks - Pinkbike.com

Been looking for a chain guide for my '10 Fuel EX 8 and was wondering if anyone has tried this on their Fuel EX's?

I use the MRP 1.X on my 2010 EX8. I have it setup up as 1x9. MRP 1.X Guide > Components > Drivetrain > Chain Tensioners and Guides | Jenson USA

Interesting. That might be a worthwhile addition to my bike. I do notice chainslap when going down over rocks/roots. Should I buy one?

Why I want one. I get some nasty chain slap and some chain suckage when going down the rough stuff. Price Point is the only retailer who has it and they are on backorder.

I actually ordered this when I saw it posted from the bionicon USA site. Even though it says it's backordered, I placed the order anyway and it came in today. Shipping was a couple of bucks better than PP too. Although, it didn't give me a choice in color except black.

EDIT: Just installed it, bounced the bike up and down a few times and it was quiet. Taking it out tomorrow to see how it goes.

EDIT 2: OK, this thing works great. Ran down some rocks and roots and jumps. No chain slap or noise at all. All I heard were tires humming on the dirt and some creaking from my BB.

I just got mine direct from Bionicon USA direct as well. Pricepoint was on back order and they werent looking to reorder for a few more weeks. Paul at Bionicon said I got one of the last black c.guides left.

Will post pics of it on my DB Mission as soon as I can find time to get it installed. So far it looks like an excellent piece of kit- will know more once I get a ride on it.

Here is mine mounted on the EX 8.

I was in a hurry while installing it and managed to put the plastic tubing upside down while positioning it but one of the zipties got locked. I had to cut that one off and all I had was some thin ones. I'll have to rectify that later.

Awesome, thanks for the pic joshhan. I missed the link to order on the Bionicon USA website. I preordered with PricePoint and they shipped mine out already. I should be getting it late this week. And if you don't mind, can you take of a pic of it further away? Perhaps a full shot of your bike? Thanks.

Yea got mine last week. Only was able to get one ride in so far. Initial impressions are excellent! Bombing down rough sections was whisper quiet and smooth. At times I had to glance down to see if the chain was still on 'cause it was so quiet. No more chain suckage and crazy chain slap. I love this thing. Only question is the durability of the plastic universal mount piece. Someone already trashed one and posted it up online somewhere. And from what I hear they are $10+ a pop for a replacement piece. Kinda ridiculous after spending $60... sigh... hopefully mine will hold up for a good while. Overall I love it.

I ordered one earlier this week straight through Bionicon. It said they wont be in stock until the end of the month. I cant wait to get it as I've been having some issues this past week with my E.13 XCX Chainguide so this would definitely help it out.

I'm using one of these on my Remedy 9.9 and I am in LOVE. Highly recommended.

I'll post a video next week of the chain bouncing it's face off without this mini chain guide and then how nice and quiet it is with it on. Simple, awesome, and works well.

Got mine today, 4/2. The red goes great with my '12 matte titanium ex8.
Install was fairly simple and I added an extra zip tie to the center sort of loosely just
For some extra insurance. I did not use the zip ties that came with it since I had some that
    Are much better.

Won't get to try it all out until Thursday, but from playing with it on the wall it seems much better. I'll post pics when I am allowed

Hi Paul from Bionicon here. just wanted to chime in on this point.

The $10 replacement piece is for the guide tube that the chain runs through and not the hanger. Also to extend the life of the guide tube you can rotate and flip occasionally to change the wear pattern. I've been running the same one for almost a year now.

As for the Universal Hanger piece:
If you bought a c.guide before the most recent shipment (3/30/12) that already has the strengthened version and break it we are sending a replacement pieces for free, no questions, just shoot me a pic of the broken one. There has been less than 1 in 10 so far that have broken, for most people it has been working great, but we stand behind the product and since we remedied the minor problem we will take care of you.

Also it is worth while to check for chain growth and adequate slack in the chain when your suspension is fully compressed. If it tightens too much it can simply pull the guide away from the chainstay.

Thanks for the business everyone! Enjoy!

I recieved mine a couple weeks ago now and it took me all of 5 minutes to install and yes it definitely works.

My Ex 7 doesn't sound like it's going to come apart with every little bump now. Soooo much better.

How does one go about procuring a new mount? I've already broken one and expect to break the 2nd one to break sooner or later. BTW, mine was shipped around 3/30.

    Shoot me an Email, paul@bioniconusa"dot"com

Please be sure to check your chain tension when the suspension is fully compressed and we are now recommending a third Zip tie, see link c.guide » // update for example.

For those that care Paul took care of me. I received the replacement mount within 3-4 days of sending Paul an email. The new mount is holding up nicely with the 3rd ziptie.

This right here. I have one on the big hit bike (Remedy) and I like it so much, I'm going to put one on the SuperFly100 for long endurance races. I've gotten a couple of cases of chain suck last year after chain lube wears off after 6 hours of creek crossings, and this will prevent that.

    This thing ROCKS!

I have one on my Fuel and it works perfectly. The chain rubs just a little bit on some gear combinations but nothing to worry about.

I have one on my X-Caliber and it has a much narrower operating range before rubbing. But again, nothing that slows me down.

It's a great product and looks good!

I would def buy again and more if I get another bike w/o ISCG tabs. Been running mine for couple months now and it's been absolutely hassle free. Best part is, no more annoying chain slap when the terrain gets rough. Absolutely love mine and it's one of the best things I have bought for my bike. =D

Just ordered 2 of these and a spare guide from Price Point. Wanted to get the Specialized Dangler but that's not gonna be available until sometime in July.

One for my sons new Roscoe and the other for my daughters Safire Comp. Seems like an excellent and simple product.

Just mounted mine on my bike. Since my bike doesn't have a wire guide, some how it feels like it would move around. I'll take a pic when I get home. Btw I'm using the three zips.

Looks great! I been running mine with only 2 zip ties for months and haven't had a single problem. Bionicon really hit the mark with this chain guide. I had boat loads of ppl asking me about it at a recent local fat tire festival.

So here's my update! (Finally was able to go out and ride.)
LOVE it so far! Works as advertised. Jump off of anything and not hearing ANY chain slap. So I would recommend this product. I agree that $50 is a little steep (better priced at the $25-40 tops range), but as of now I can't find a product that works any better!
