Thanks for posting your build! Is that 3.68lbs for the frame and shock? I can't quite tell when I zoom on the photo, thanks.

Now what to lace them to. Wtb frequenc, sun ringle inferno, arch ex, dusters, lightbycicle...or heavy flow ex?

Not as of this moment. If the do, it'll probably just the Carbon 650b. I sold/selling all the stock stuff.

I love mine, i use it for just about everything. Longish XC rides, and Lift serve DH stuff. I just flip the chips in the rear suspension.

For whatever reason I can't view your attachments... I've tried two computers and two browsers.

Regardless, I picked up a Remedy 8 29er last month and love almost everything about it, but wish I could upgrade the suspension (mine came with 2013 CTD with the old damping). I also wanted to upgrade to a remote lever, but Fox tells me none of their non-OEM rear shocks are compatible with my bike, and none-remote rear shocks cannot convert to remote (save for some DIY solutions I found on Youtube). Did you upgrade your rear shock? Is there something (other than the pics) I'm missing in regards to upgradability?

Sorry for hijacking your thread... you just seem to know what you're talking about

I think the forum is having issues right now. They were there.

As for the rear shock. I am looking for options. Cane Creek won't help me becasue nothing they have 'fits'. I need to call them instead of e-mail.

I like the shock in T and C, but when in D it feels like there is not enough air pressure/damping. blows through it's travel really fast. Maybe it's leaking air...

My thoughts exactly on the descent setting... it feels like you're bobbing after big hits and the bike totally loses composure. Apparently this has been fixed in the 2014 models, and you can send yours in to be updated. I think it runs like a hundred bucks. I may end up doing that, but I'm still bummed I can't do remote or upgrade to kashima.

You can fit a CCDB if you so like. Here are some instructions that would help: Unclesomebody | Trek Remedy 2010-11 Coil Shock Conversion

That's an excellent link, and it looks like you could probably apply the same process to any Fox shock that's roughly the same size.

So I am seriously considering getting a Remedy 8 after a recent demo, and was wondering if everyone is still happy with theirs, and if there is anything that you would change. The only thing that I would really want to change would be the crankset to an SLX double, bar/stem, and throw on a set of rims that I already have. Thanks!

I love this bike and recommend it. I'd suggest that if you plan to ride stock make sure you're getting one with a 2014 spec Fox suspension. Mine came with the crappy(ish) 2013 and it's really the only thing I'm considering upgrading.

Contact fox and tell them the damper sucks. They replaced mine in my fuel at no cost to me and it has been a LOT better. Granted its not the same exact fork but still, maybe it'll help! Good luck with it either way.

I likely will, but I'm riding every day right now and I don't want the week long break that will entail until later in the season. That said, if they're doing it for free now I may consider doing it sooner... I'll give them a ring and see how quickly they could get it done.

Out of curiosity, did you just have the fork done? I'm annoyed with the "D" setting at both ends of the bike, so I was planning to eventually upgrade both.

Yes, it was done a few weeks ago. It makes the original feel like a much more budget less polished piece for sure.
Took a week but I went through my lbs to see what they said first. I feel it may be possible to get it done more quickly contacting them directly, as I've seen people mention Fox will overnight it back and so forth.

So you got me curious and I gave them a call. They won't do it for free but I can get it done for $50 (fork only). I can also get a kashima upgrade and rebuild for $300 or so, so I may call back when I'm ready to do it and make a stink and get them to do the damper valving for free. I'm still on the fence about the rear because that would be $150 or so, and I'm considering swapping it out for a remote one at some point anyway.

Small update. I recently took off the e13 chain guide because I felt like it wasn't needed with the XTR shadow plus derailleur. And I was correct!

It's hard to believe just how versatile this bike is. All day XC rides, to DH races at Fontana, to lift days at Snow Summit.

Well, technically this bike is now for sale. I will post a classified ad later this weekend. XTR minus the crank. Which will be the deore one that came on it plus raceface 10spd 24x36xbash. Pike 150 Travel adjust. XTR trail brakes, scratched because of a crash on a previous bike, but pure cosmetic damage.

Reason for selling: none really. I have too many in the garage. Trying different things...Maybe a Slash or remedy 650b next? or maybe a new Jekyll!
