2013 Superfly 100 SL Tire choices for SoCal

I've had a 2013 Superfly 100 SL for a couple of months. Raced it a few times and love it overall. Had LBS switch out stock Bontrager 29-1's for 2.3 Bontrager 29-3's. Heard they had better traction and were better all around tire. I'm not impressed. Rear skids too easy, which may be more my fault. Slides way too easy on turns and I am running mostly hardpacked to some loose over hardpack. Seems to handle the rough rocky stuff ok, which is intersting. Always tubless, run at 28-30 lbs. I weigh about 163 so not too heavy. Not confident turning with these. Had Rocket Rons on previous bike and loved them. Considering Rocket Rons on front and Racing Ralphs on back. I use it as a general trail bike but also race with it too. Any other suggestions?

I weigh 160lbs and regularly run under 25 psi rear, 22-23front on loose CO kitty litter, same tires as you. Maybe lower your pressure?

Wow! I'll give lowering the pressure a try. What version of 29-3 do you have? Mine is just the Expert non TL type.

I might be on "team issue" rather than expert, but all Bontrager tires are "tubeless ready" for last couple years. Note that wide rims helps enable lower pressures (23mm internal)

I weigh 210 and road the team issue on my bike for a year plus, worked great on the loose over hardpack. I ran them tubeless and ran them at 29 lbs. my bro in law rides the same setup weights 160 and runs 23 lbs. I loved them but the Sid walls were the problem for me. I tore three in a matter of two months so i switched to the schwalbee racing Ralph's. I love them, they ride fast and give better traction than my bonty's Only downfall is the price. Try the racing Ralph's if you want a fast tire with good sidewall protection. Plus they retain the air a lot better when the bike is not in use as well
