I just picked up a 13 Superfly AL Elite from my LBS a week ago. It was the only one there though. I absolutely love it!

I just ordered my superfly 100 al pro. The shop I use to work for said there were only 8 available right now until late november. So the first run is probably going pretty quick.

I have been waiting for a 2013 warranty bike for a long time now. It is has been a 2-3 months and they said in a month or so they will be able to give me an ETA. Very frustrating!

had my dealer check on a 13 superfly 100 alum pro. eta for a 17.5 was 12/31/12. there were some leftover 2012s though.

I had ordered a 2013 Superfly 100 Elite. I was told January to March but there was no confirmed date by Trek. Our race season starts here in AZ in January so I canceled my order and built a Niner Jet9 RDO instead.

Yesterday I ordered a Superfly 100 Elite SL at my local LBS here in the Netherlands.

According to my dealer the ETA for the Carbon models is somewhere in February/March.

Placed an order for a 2013 Superfly AL Elite; thankfully it was in stock and on the way. I was interested in the Stache 8 as well, but none were available, and on the Trek dealer site its ETA was Feb 25th 2013

sucks to have to wait till march ! alot of people will just buy another brand. in this economy seems like a stupid game plan to me.

I hope you realise that Trek isn't deciding to release the bikes later (like on a whim or something when they've got stock sitting ready to go), or that they just gave every employee a bonus trip to Hawaii. They've obviously run into issues with the new fabrication techniques and the delay is unavoidable.

I mean, its not like some conspiracy theory designed to stop people getting bikes or something.

Good point. I sure hope the issues they are running into is not frames breaking at an alarming rate like the first generation superflys. My superfly has been sitting at the shop broken since july and I am still waiting on a bike!
This will be my fourth replacement frame in less than a year. I have spent more time without a bike than with it. They can't even give me an eta on when i will get a bike from them. I have a feeling something went seriously wrong with the new models.

@AlexRandall Im curious to find out how you know if there are production issues with the 2013 carbon models?

Ive also looked at a GT Zaskar 100 as an option, that bike, in 2013, was also due to delivery somewhere early 2013 if ordered now. So I dont see a delivery date of February/March as an indication for a production problem.
The ETA date of February/March as mentioned by my dealer, here in the Netherlands, is based on his online Trek dealer site two weeks ago. Maybe trek is awaiting sufficient orders in a specific size to make production efficient. Or maybe the batch in my size (19") has already been sold out, and I have to wait for a new batch. There could be tons of reasons why the bike takes 4 months to deliver, and since their competitors take just as long to deliver a bike in 2013 spec, as told by the GT dealer. I dont see this as an indication for a problem.
In June last year I first informed at my LBS for the Superfly 100. They told me the the 2012 stock of the SF100 was already sold out in 19". So waiting for the 2013 model was the only option, and in June they already told me not to get my hopes to have it before december.

A friend of mine bought a 2012 CUBE hardtail in november last year, a bike in the sub $1000 price range. Nothing special like carbon just a basic do it all Shimano SLX equiped Hardtail. The order was placed in November, the bike delivered early February.

Yes having to wait 5 months on the new bike sucks, I still have my Sugar 29er to take my mind of the waiting period.

@cbrock450 That is a shame, I hope your LBS has provided you with at least a replacement bike for the time beeing?

I am a Trek Dealer. According to the info for my store these will be available in January (I pre booked them). They often ship sooner for dealers that pre booked them. Better to underpromise and overdeliver. My Stache 8 showed an eta of December and I got it a week ago.

I just had the LBS check on my order and they are now being told January. I'm getting sick of waiting and am thinking about gettng something else. Once the snow hits here in Michigan I will be on my 29er until March. I'm going to need a bike soon.

Ordered a '13 Superfly 100 Pro SL on Friday (technically the order goes in on Monday, as Trek was closed Friday). ETA: 4/8/12. In all likelihood, the bike will arrive earlier, as quite a few of the pre-ordered bikes, particularly high end models, are ordered by dealers many months in advance and then when the time comes to pony up the cash, many dealers and buyers change their minds, and then folks lower on the list move up.

    No good

I went to my LBS to place my order on a SF 100 SL and was told the ETA would be 4/8/12. Ouch. I had them check on the SF Elite and Pro and the Eta is not much better. 3/20/12. They system shows none of the above bikes available before 2/1/12. My dealer preordered 12 SF''s in assorted sizes and spec levels and they haven't received any of them let alone any confirmed delivery dates.

Aluminium models are already available at most dealers. As far as I know only the carbon models seem to have a long delivery time.

Maybe I should change my order to an AL Elite, or maybe a even Rumblefish.

Very nice. You'll need to write a review comparing the 2 bikes. Trek shortened the travel on the new carbon SF 100. It will be interesting comparing the 2.

Who is actually riding a 13 SF 100 Elite SL??

I have an order on one - 21" - that should be here in a month. Still have not seen much of a review on it. Who has some saddle time on this beauty and how does it compare to what you rode before (I was on Hifi Deluxe '11).

    Thanks!

The only ones I've been able to see or hear any reviews on are in Trek's demo fleet or in the hands of thief factory team and mechanics.

Travis Brown had something on Twitter yesterday about a Strava link and how fast the Superfly climbs.

Bad news guys I have a superfly 100 elite sl on order which was originally scheduled for March 2013 but was told yesterday Trek has pushed all dates back some 45 days and now it's not due until June 3, 2013 which is even longer then the 45 days. I might have to look at another brand.

That is bad News, mine is set to arrive in March as well. The waiting period is long, but when it arrives in March it is just in time, just after the winter.
Ill see if I can pay a visit to my LBS and have them check on my order this week. If it is also pushed back until June, I will switch to a Rumblefish.

Pretty interesting, though June 2014 is pretty close to the traditional new model roll out season. Are the 2013 Carbon Superfly's going to be the new 2014's ? Hmm maybe I'll wait to order my '13 SF SL and I'll be able to buy it as a leftover.

Have you had any time to test it out on the trails, how is your first riding experience?

It is 17.5, first ride was around the carpark outside work then straight out to local trails for thursday evening dirt crits, 20 minutes at max heartrate. It seems a little more responsive than the 2012 superfly 100 elite I was riding, though its a little hard to tell when you are riding a max effort.

They have almost sold out here in Australia, managed to get the last 15.5" for a customer last monday. New stock arriving around 21st January, apparently.

    Not USA...

The new SL frames are not made in the USA. I contacted Trek and they confirmed it...

Me: Hi Trek, where are the 2013 Superfly 100 SL OCLV Mountain Carbon frames made, in your USA facility or overseas? My friends 12' SF100 Elite says it was made in the USA on the seattube. That would be great if the new ones were made in Waterloo

Trek: Thanks for writing, but those are produced in Taiwan.

just got the answer for someone that works at a trek shop.

"I manage a store that sells trek. I was told that there have been some frame issues with some of the early production models and that they are working on the issue.
I have had a customer waiting since November, the current date of availability is showing me n/a."

Kind of the same response I've gotten from Trek in the Netherlands. I got a bike trip to Austria planned early June, kind of need the new bike by then. Trek told me the couldn't guarantee the delivery for June. My order was placed on 20 october, and original delivery should be March.

Going to have a chat with my dealer this weekend, going to see what the options are. Maybe spent some money and update/overhaul my Sugar 292 and ride it for one more year, and order a SF100 for next year. Or have a second look at the GT Zaskar100, or maybe the C'dale Scalpel.

My dealers ETA says Jan. 13 for XXL but n/a for all other sizes. I am not buying one right now but maybe some XXL riders might let us know if they take delivery in the next few weeks.

Dumb and Dumber- So you're telling me there's a chance - YouTube

    In greater seriousness...
It seems that many manufacturers suffer from delays or short supply... my guess is very conservative supply chain and inventory management practices in an unpredictable economy. I hear similar complaints from friends at specialized dealers, etc

    but that's mostly a guess.

Just got back from my LBS. My bike has been postponed until 27 may. I'll be leaving for Austria on the 24th. My dealer will contact Trek this week and see what he can do.

But I'm afraid I will have to cancel the bike. I think my best option will be to overhaul my Sugar and re-order the bike for the '14 model in September.

I can't imagine there could be a serious structural issue with the bike, as some bikes have been shipped.

Can't imagine them taking such a risk with their reputation.

when I checked on mine last week I was also told May delivery. Dissapointing to have to wait so long for one but it is what it is as this point. Id rather get something they are happy to deliver than something rushed thru production to make a date.

I'm still waiting on mine as well. I had checked with LBS about two or three weeks ago and the eta was sometime in February.

If delivery is pushed back to May, I will be asking for a discount on what I paid for the SF or I will be asking for a refund and shopping for a different bike.

I guess I should have added a smiley emoticon after my post.
The scalpel weighs in at 10.601 Kilos, but that includes the reflectors.

Scalpel is a great bike, had it on my shortlist aswell, bikes were allmost equal. No major differences. Experience with Cdale/GT LBS vs. my Trek LBS made me choose for Trek.

Still no word from my LBS, but if the date of may 27 does not change, Ill cancel my order. I am not planning to shop around for another bike, got my mind set on a SF100. So ill get my Sugar ready for one more year and order a 2014 bike in September. I trust that they have the plant in Taiwan up and running by that time so that when I place an order in September/October the bike will be delivered in January.

@BMiller, just to be sure, is that a Superfly 100 AL or a Superfly 100 SL (carbon model).

I went with the scalpel because I sold my '12 SF 100 elite in late Novemeber and I was counting on an earlier ETA for a new SC 100. I really liked the SF 100 it fit me well and was a blast to ride and race. I also have a SF HT that I raced at Leadville, though I'm getting old so I wanted another FS ride.

@J79 yes its a carbon model..give me a little credit I have been doing this 17 years.....have had the aluminum model for well over a month @Slim83 Yes thats right out of the box, with dork disc, non tubeless, a really long post, etc. We got 2 17.5"s in actually....none of our stores have received a 19" yet. Did get in a 15.5: inch also.

Also there are no dates listed for estimated ETA if you ordered one up right now. So my guess is if the shop didn't do a preseason order for their high end stuff (like almost every bike manufacture asks for), or it wasn't ordered for your special order, you won't see them as open stock at trek later in the year...but thats just my opinion. Trek does have a few (six) of the 21" as open stock right now however.

    Just wondering

    Hey Guys,

It been a long time since Ive posted.

I ordered back in October and last week when I went into the shop they said it would be April 1 delivery. I ordered a 17.5.

Were these bikes ordered before that?(Oct) I originally had a January 3 delivery, then Feb 14th, Then March 15th and now April 1.

My question is when were these ordered to have just arrived. FWIW I am located in Baltimore and my dealer is a very large Trek dealer.

    Thanks for the info,

    Gary

Yep, that's what I'll do as well if my date gets pushed back any further. It's currently March. There's a new 2012 Trek Superfly 100 elite at another bike store they have marked down to $4600. I'm also going to ride a Santa Cruz Tallboy carbon today. Trek may have shot themselves in the foot.
