    Hi all. My LBS has a 2012 Rumblefish on closeout for $2000. How does this compare to other year end deals on other old 2012 RF's? Is $2000 a good deal?

    Id say good deal, but not great deal. If you're talking about a base model, then the retail is $2400ish. That would be about the deal I would expect on a current model year bike.

    If its what I was looking for id buy it. I wouldn't buy it just because of the deal.

    Also if you have the ability to get to a trek demo ride make.sure you do. They'll give you a $100 coupon.

    Just reading through this thread and had to comment.

    I have a 2011 Rumblefish 1 (comparable to an Elite) with almost 1800 miles on it. I am 5'11" and ride a 19.5" frame. I put a 20t front chainring on, SLX /IceTech brake upgrade (from Elixer 5's), and replaced the worn out tires.

    This is undoubtedly one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. I rode my Fuel EX today just for kicks, and it is SLOWwww compared to the fish. The 'fish handles better, is more stable, rolls longer, and is just overall a better bike. If you are on the fence for it, just get it. You wont regret it.

    Ready, did the service on your forks help?
    My rf pro feels the same....front fork feels the same on all of the CTD settings. Debating whether to take the bike back to the store to have it looked at or whether the transition between the settings is so small that I can't notice.

    You should be able to tell a lot easier than it is to tell with the rear suspension. I can just bounce it around in the driveway and can tell a big difference in the positions.

    I was reading a post about this earlier.

    2013 Fox F29 120mm CTD Evolution Series CTD damper issue

    I don't think the factory series forks are suffering from this as they have the Fit system. That's not to say you aren't having the issues though. Interesting as I also have a 2013 Rf pro. Will have to check mine again. I know that the climb mode on 2013 ctd forks is not anywhere near a lockout.

    my rear shock locks out on Climb mode. the increments between CTD are very noticable.
    I just pumped my front shock up to 130psi this morning and then let 5psi out (i think i read somewhere the max is 125psi???). It still feels the same in the front...little/no difference between Climb and Descend. The recommended setting for me in the front is 80psi, so i'm a long way from that. I have been running 110psi recently.

    Well... about a year ago I bought a 2012 Rumblefish Elite - loved the bike but I went for the 23" and at 6'4" I realised pretty quickly that it was just a little too big for me to really hustle around.

    Anyway I sold it back in the Summer and bought a 21" Speccy Carve Pro - which is pretty damm good bike but just a bit too hardtail sometimes....

    So I was reading this thread and saw Grundy's '13 RF Pro. and realised that that was what I wanted in 21" ....to cut a long story short my LBS relieved me of a 50% deposit today and estimated delivery end of Feb.



    I reckon Grundy you should ask Trek for a commission on my purchase - it wasn't the picture on their website that sold it too me, it was yours.

    I love the bike Paul. The trek photos on their site don't do it justice, not just for the pro but the elite too. Both look and are awesome

    If you wanna contact trek to organise some commission for me it would be appreciated haha

    If you do get any info as to whether your forks are not working as intended please keep us updated as I'm very much a novice regarding these issues.

    Hi Tk80, welcome to the club! Unfortunately it does sound exactly like the problem I had, I would take it back to your LBS asap. I contacted TREK direct (although this problem is a Fox issue, not TREK) and had to send the forks away to be serviced under warranty. If you're in the UK they're called MOJO, who also have a helpful website mojo.co.uk. There's even a "What to do if the forks don't lock out" section - worth looking at before sending them away, just in case...

    Now I have them back I can REALLY notice the difference. However, they do not completely lock out, far from it. FOX themselves have actually stated it's not a complete lockout. The rear shock has always been absolutely fine, locks out almost solidly.

    Apart from that I absolutely LOVE this bike!! The only issue I have is it's taking me ages to get the bike dialled in! I'm 6'1, about 95kgs "geared up" and I'm currently running 90 in the forks, and about 130 in the rear, both around the 3 clicks in mark. What about everyone else?

    Oh, and Grundy, those new bars and stem look gooooood my friend

    i've been hearing tires need to go...anything else?

    I changed my saddle, stem and bars but mainly because I wanted to. The tyres aren't great in the wet so they are next for me. Some schwalbe hans damf's.

    If you get the elite or the pro I can't say that there's really anything that "needs" upgraded. The Avid brakes that come on the base model seem to work well but they will make some noise.

    Nothing i felt i needed to upgrade. Even the tires (and i thought i wasnt gona like them) have been solid. Will upgrade as things break/wear out.

    +1 on the tires. From what I was used to which was specialized ground controls these 29-3's have been awesome in every condition I've seen so far.

    I got the elite and put a reverb post on and a different saddle. Other than that the only other thing I wish I had was a clutch type rear deraileur. I haven't rode much, but I've tossed my chain off about 3 times.

    I'm loving the tires, but I've only had junk in the past.

    Closed out 4 weekends with new bike today. 108 on the odo (no weekday rides yet, just sat/sun). Learning it, loving it.

    Finally finding some limits to her. It IS a bit harder to huck than my old 26. On tight high speed cornering the bike can be a bit big to really lay over and carve tire edge on.

    Mind, finding limits does not mean i am unhappy. Quite the opposite. Ive had to ride the crap out of this bike to find ANY limits and have enjoyed every moment.

    Still very much in love.

    Agree with Grundy, nowhere near enough chances to ride! I don't mind rain, I don't mind the cold but I just can't be doing with gale force winds, and it seems to be that if I'm not at work or on "family duties" it's windy as!! Roll on springtime..
    Anyway, finally had my reverb seat post arrive so fitting that in next couple of days. Also picked up some new Shimano pedals, and some Bontrager 29-4 tyres. Will post pics when I get a chance.
    Must say, I'm so glad I chose this bike. Absolutely love it and it gets better with every ride, so much so that my once beloved 4900 isn't getting a look in at all..
