Hi there, I have last years' Remedy 9 and wanted to share a couple of insights, apologies if they have been mentioned before. I really love the bike, it is everything that I wanted and it handles XC rides and light DH and FR without a murmur. Well almost. When climbing, I would get a ticking sounds coming through. Long story short, I check and regreased every pivot, bolt and bolt on bit. It was a few things (pedal axles needed some grease as well) in combination but the main culprit was the ABP pivot where it interfaced with the dropouts. Undo the ABP nut and push out the threaded bolt, reassemble with a thin smear of grease on the parts that interface with the frame and bearing. Good as...

2012 trek remedy 9
I JUST PICKED UP MY NEW R NINE. I HAVE RIDDEN HARDTAIL 29ERS FOR YEARS, HAVE PURCHASED 3. AFTER THE FIRST RIDE THIS WEEKEND IN THE NEVADA DESERT, I WISHED I WOULD HAVE SWITCHED TO FULL RIDE SOONER.
-BIKE IS 29.1 POUNDS WITH TUBES
-18.5" FRAME HAS AN 80mm STEM
-BARS ARE 720mm WIDE WITH VERY SLIGHT RISE
-SADDLE IS SURPRISINGLY COMFORTABLE
-SHADOW PLUS WORKS EXTREMELY WELL WITH ZERO CHAIN SLAP
I WILL POST PICS NEXT...

Are the rotors that come with the bike XT level IceTech? or are they the cheaper SLX ones?

I also wasn't aware it came with downtube protection since it is an aluminum frame. Nice touch for the R9. The downtube protector wasn't quite seated from the factory so I heated up the glue with a hair dryer, wrapped an old inner tube around the protector overnight and it was sealed tightly by morning.

Here's my 2011 Remedy 8. Absolutly love this bike. Cant say enough good stuff about the 12' xt brakes either. soo much modulation and nooo brake fade at all even with the most heat i can throw at them.
Added so far:
2012 XT brakes and rotors (Ice Tech)
745mm sunline bars
Race Face Deus Cranks (36, 24)
Joplin 3" dropper (came w/bike, want 5" next)
High Rollers tubeless
Custom Remote pro pedal switch (see vid/pics)
In the mail: e*thriteen DRS 2x10 chainguide
Still to come:
Custom built wheels
Talas removal/Float install, or just a 36
Link for remote pro pedal switch: Remote Pro Pedal DRCV Trek Remedy - YouTube
The DRCV shock is excellent, people who bad mouth it must not know how to set it up because with the correct sag/air pressure and proper rebound settings it can really be a do-it-all shock, in the small chop and for big hits. hope the pics came out.

Hello guys, I am thinking about buying this fantastic bike, but I think that the bike should have press fit bottom bracket and direct mount front derailleur, like GIANT REIGN the other bike I´m thinking to buy. (excuse my english...)

Alex, I don't believe not having press fit BBs and a direct mount derailleur will slow you down! I do not feel disadvantaged at all.

K7GD, The bike can probably down faster than I am able to do, but they are small details that should have bikes that price, anyway, it´s a fantastic bike, do you think is better than REIGN 0???

IMO, the ABP alone gives the remedy an advantage over the reign and the enduro. Makes for very predictable braking, especially on rocky downhills or through chatter. I owned a few enduros, a pitch pro and some downhill bikes like an Ellsworth and a Marin quake, and the rear suspension geometry on the remedy is the best that iv experienced.

I just got this bike and am changing a few things on it as well, namely the handle bars and stem to get my cockpit a bit more relaxed.
I wondered about changing to a nice set of wheels but don't no much about what I should be looking for in an aggrsive trail wheel. Everyone talks about weight and the lighter you go the more you pay.
According to Bontrager the Rhythem Elites that come on the bike weigh in at about 1825grams combined. I noticed you changed over to an xt wheelset and was interested in your descision as the M-788 trail versions actually weigh in around the same weight.
Is there more than just weight to consider when upgrading your wheelset?

I got the wheel to top off the xt fill, but had them on my last am bike (spec enduro) as well and found that they held up to some pretty heavy abuse so i went with them again. They are also tubeless + they are easy to setup and I've never rolled a tyre. With the stock rim you have to buy a trek rim strip and valves so the xt for me was a safer bet.

Ride Report!!!
I've had several months with the 2012 Remedy 9 now, and I am here to report back.
Setup (Stock + following changes): Size 18.5
Thompson Elite X4 90mm 0* Stem
Easton EC70 Bars
Thompson Elite Seatpost
WTB Silverado Saddle
XT Trail Pedals
Swapped 3x10 XT crank for 2x10 version
Kenda Excavator 2.1 DTC tires F/R tubeless with Stans
Weight: 28.15 Lbs
5'10" 180 Lbs Rider 185psi rear 85psi front.
The bike is a true do anything ride. You could JUST have this bike and ride anything on dirt. I have zero complaints. I've pressed the bike into full XC duty, riding 20+ fast paced miles in the NJ Pine Barrons and kept up with my buddies on their 29er hard tails. No issues. Totally responsive. Obviously a slacker HA slows handling down, but that's a given.
The bike is responsive and plush, and can be thrown around with ease. The XT brakes with Ice Tech rotors stop with a ton of modulation. I enjoy leaning the bike from side to side while carving through long series of tight corners. Trail braking into corners and taking a squeeze of rear brake rewards you with an easy to control power slide around loose gravel tight radius corners.
Climbing is NO PROBLEM. In fact, the bike has more traction reserve than my old dualie XC bike (Fuel EX8). The travel and sag, combined with the full floater shock with ProPedal on, gives you efficient climbing in the saddle. Stay seated and the bike works it all out.
When descending, it is not necessary to flick the fork and shock into the full open settings. The bike will soak it all up regardless. Take the time to make sure your settings are correct. With DRCV your goal is to use virtually all of your travel, front and rear, on a hard ride. If you're not, try backing down in 5 psi increments.
XTR Shadow + is legit. I roll with an MRP XCG dual ring guard up front and the derailiuer keeps everything under control. That said, I just removed a link from the chain and everything is even more taught now. No chain slap, no lost shifts.
Buy this bike.

I have just bought this bike as well and have done 3*2 hour rides on it.
I seem to be having trouble getting the front fork dialled in. It seems to tackle trail chatter very well and big hits likes jumps and drop offs well too. But when it comes to hitting medium sized rock gardens at speed, I feel like its not working right. It feels bouncy and deflective. Its like my arms are taking all the hits.
I have a specialized fsr stumpjumper pro as well and I know over the same rock gardens the specialized fork just seems to level it all out and soak it up.
So I am not sure if the fork just needs time to wear in or I have got the wrong settings, hmmmm.

Check your rebound. Trail chatter is high speed damping. The only effect you can have on this is air pressure. Jumps and drops is low speed. You seem to have this decently adjusted. Perhaps your fork is packing up on medium sized rock gardens, or too fast and is sending the rebound straight back to you.
Good luck, your bike isn't broken you just need to tinker more with the settings. It will in the end be plush and responsive.

Thanks quattrokid.
I'll have a bit more of a play with the rebound on my next ride.

Kinda confused about some of the upgrades you listed, as they are the same as stock. Was yours a European spec or something?

Alexbarros, I can't say if the R9 is better than the Reign...but, I have researched for a year before making this purchase and I could not find online or in a bike shop a bike with more technology for the money. I have ridden my R9 for several weeks and love the ride and the technology. If I were a professional racer, I would have purchased a carbon frame Remedy and upgraded several components. I do compete at the amateur level and I believe I will be quite competitive this summer based upon my current training times. But the rest of the time, when I am riding hard just for fun, this bike is perfect.

The parts list is stock + upgrades,
I have also dropped the triple up front to a double chain ring with a MRPx2 for better rock clearance, and have yet to drop a chain. But had to turn back the tension on the xtr mech a click or two to get the right chain tension.
