    2005 Trek EX8

    Hi there,

I'm currently looking at buying a used 05 Trek EX8. I was wondering if anyone could help me estimate how much I should offer the seller for this bike. Here is the background on the bike:

-The Reba Race forks Pop Loc is no longer functioning but apparently a rebuild would fix it

-The bike does not include pedals

Other than that the bike is in great working order with no major dings or scratches (bought new in 06 and rode over summer)

    Here are the specs:

    FRAMESET:
    FRAME: ZR 9000
FORK: RockShox Reba Race w/Motion Control, 100mm
REAR SHOCK: RockShox MC 3R, handlebar remote, 100mm

    WHEELS:
    WHEELS: Bontrager Race Disc tubeless
    TIRES: Bontrager ACX, 26x2.2"

    DRIVETRAIN:
    SHIFTERS: SRAM SX-7
    FRONT DERAILLEUR: Shimano Deore LX
    REAR DERAILLEUR: SRAM SX-9
    CRANKSET: Shimano LX 44/32/22 Hollowtech
    CASSETTE: SRAM 970 11-34, 9 speed

    COMPONENTS:
    SADDLE: Bontrager Race
    SEATPOST: Bontrager Race
    HANDLEBARS: Bontrager Race, 31.8, 630x25
    STEM: Bontrager Race, 31.8
    HEADSET: Alloy aheadset, semi-cartridge, sealed
    BRAKESET: Hayes Mag XC

PS If this thread is breaking any forum rules I'm sorry this is my first post here and I wasn't sure if this was the correct subforum.

The ex 7 and above were redesigned for 07. My guess is that would decrease the value of the old ones even more. Can you trust how much it has actually been used?

I saw a demo model 2006 ex8 at the toronto bike show being sold by a dealer for 1250 canadian. It was so low that I thought the price was wrong. It looked in great condition to me and i was surprised by the price. As for one a year older offer a low amount and see if they take it.

Also remember that buying it used it will invalidate the lifetime frame warranty. So if you break frames you might want to think twice.
